Several friends and I used A Creative Gathering to decorate my friend's honeymoon suite after they were married. They were jetting off to Europe the next day, but were staying at the Four Seasons after the wedding. We gave A Creative Gathering the hotel infornation and they were able to work their magic and get the room decked out. I'm still amazed they were able to get into the room prior to their arrival, but they did. My friends had no idea what we had done, but we had them leave a card from all of us. They were amazed and touched. They even sent up pictures from their Blackberries before heading out the next morning.
Whenever we have new tenants move into our rentals, I always gift them with a dieffenbachia. I like how they liven up a place and they give off good energy. La Jolla Village Florist has provided the last few plants I've sent and always sends a beautifully mature plant. They're big, the coloring is great and the recipients are always pleasantly surprised.
I was able to easily order a pretty nice looking bamboo plant at the last minute from Presentations. I don't traditionally like sending flowers; I much rather send something that's living. I didn't have time to go out or even pick up the phone, so I went online, pulled up their website and made the order. The bamboo was delivered the next day to my recipient, who then sent me a picture and a thank you. Well done.
I chose Hartworks Floral to do the arrangements for the bridal shower I threw for my best friend. I didn't want anything too fancy, so I had them do a more natural arrangement out of flowering dogwood and some organza. The end result was a very organic, etheral looking centerpiece that was a hit with the bride. Everyone was fighting over the arrangements at the end of the shower.
I love the design skills of Red Floral Design. I don't like to always use traditional flowers in my tablescapes; I'd rather use plants and dried plant material. Red Floral fits the bill nicely with their European design. I can meet with their designers and they're able to see my vision to create the look I need in order to do my shoots. Their work is incredible.
Happy Daisies Florist is where I turned when I needed some tropical arrangements for one of my shoots. I emailed them a picture of what I wanted and asked them to expand upon it. They were able to accomodate my request and gave me so much more than what I expected. I also ordered some plumerias for my mother, who thought they were the greatest things ever. Happy Daisies is the right place to go when you need a tropical feel.
I used Landscape Interiors to help stage one of our rental properties before it sold. They worked out perfectly for us. I contacted them about two weeks in advance, met one of their people at the property, went over ideas, agreed on a budget then waited for them to deliver the plants. They were easy to work with, their plants looked great in the house and the return was just as smooth. I'll be using them again when needed.
I don't do dirt but my mom does. I found Browns Plants online and love them! They're great for information on gardening in general and on specific topics. My mom and dad want to plant an orchard but are still working out the details. Browns was able to give them some great information for them to consider. They are impartial, don't try to sell you into anything and have proven themselves to be very useful. I was able to find out more about bamboo plants, which is what I like gifting to people instead of flowers.
Since my husband loves to ski and I don't, I agreed to take lessons with our kids at the Adventure Ski & Snowboard School. I really had no interest in it, but he loves it so much, I agreed to the lessons. What I thought was going to be a chore actually turned out to be a lot of fun. My kids were able to take their lessons together and I had my own lesson. I had no idea how they could teach you how to ski at their facility, but they put you in skis and have you practice skills down a carpeted slope. Ingenious! Even though I was a klutz at first (it's amazing how awkward you feel in skis), it was fun! I felt like I accomplished a lot so by the time we actually hit the slopes the scared feeling I had wasn't as bad as it could have been. I still fell a few times, but after wiping out the 3rd time, I got it and remained up the rest of the day!
I love pilates and have been practicing off and on for about 10 years. I fit in mat classes when I can, but I much prefer to work out on the equipment. Pegasus Pilates had some great online reviews, so I had to check them out for myself when I had a break in my schedule. They're a decent sized, well equipped studio that has some pretty impressive pricing. I took the beginner package for three 50 minute sessions as a refresher and loved them. I can't commit to a package or a series because of my work schedule, so drop ins are the best I can do. This is a great studio and was fun while it lasted.
