Impress Nails
I have had natural nail manicures and both express and spa pedicures at Impress. I have always had good service and the pedicures have always lasted me a LONG time. You do have to be open to a bit of juggling if you aren't a regular. They will typically work you in without an appt but they may have one person start with you and another finish your appt up. REMEMBER to bring cash. No credit cards tips and yes, they will remember if you are that person who didn't have cash. I forgot once.
Welcome Home House Hold Svc
I had Welcome Home care for my brand new home immediately post-construction when I was so worried about keeping everything "perfect". I worked more than full time and needed to totally hand off the worries of cleaning my home to someone else. I NEVER had to worry about them being in my home while I was at work and the product was AMAZING. Every detail was attended to. The pricing is a teeny bit higher than a chain cleaner but comparing experiences with acquaintances that use chain/franchise cleaners, the work that was provided at my home was above and beyond that provided by a chain/franchise cleaner. I had to giveup this benefit when I chose to stay home 3 years ago but I am returning to work and Welcome Home was in the top three items we decided as a family would be budgeted for if I returned to work. I am hoping they have a spot to fit me in!
Touch'em All Car Wash
We had a complete interior and exterior detail. Our car was an absolute mess and they made it look new. However, I would say that the attention to detail isn't there ~ and maybe that was the result of our car being such a big job. I found two obvious stains still very visible upon pickup. I feel like if the person who cleaned it was so tired out by the job, a second set of eyes should have looked it over for the $200 I paid to have it cleaned.
El Molcajece Mexican
We visited on a Friday afternoon - no drink or food specials. The waiter was quite interesting and discouraged us from getting the BIG margarita. So we ordered two each before we left. Figured out why he discouraged us ~ one big one would have been a deal. The mediums were $8 each. The food was very so so. I have had a lot of good and bad mexican and this was probably towards the lower end of the scale quality wise. Our final bill was shocking.
Jackson Street Roundhouse
Simple outing for kids of all ages. There is an indoor museum with trains to walk through as well as an outdoor train yard where kids can walk around retired train cars PLUS ride the roundhouse turntable at scheduled times. On Saturdays, kids can ride a caboose. The many train tables offer a wonderful place for downtime. During warmer temps, the decking at the entry area is perfect for a picnic. I was a bit sad to find this treasure so late ~ already have a child in school that would have loved to visit this spot frequently.
Beaujo's Wine Bar & Bistro
I ate there on the first warm day of Spring 2010 - March 31st. It was 70s outside in the evening and the fans were a blowing in the restaurant. Definitely unnecessary especially in light of the fact that the place has a cold setting to begin with (brick floors, open restaurant seating overall and no upholstery).
Found the food to be described quite exquisitely but the food was a huge letdown. Something I could make at home. Also, plain old dorm style plates used to serve food.
The place needs some addressing in the way of having a nice name and fancy labeled menu items but nothing to back it up. Oh, the prices were definitely off base when considering what was brought to the table.
Was a great spot for a quaint setting but I left cold and dissatisfied with my dinner "out".

Stephanie the Hygienist is very gentle. I appreciate this because there are hygienists out there that practically rip your gums out doing a cleaning.
Pizza Ranch
We dined here with our kids and grandparents. Now, I eat pretty healthy and the salad bar did offer a method for offsetting the made to order pizza included with your per person charge. My kids loved the experience and the price was perfect. Of course we ate too much but if you don't dine here every night, enjoying it just once and awhile is perfect. There is more than pizza too (there is chicken, cooked veggies, flavored coffees, etc). The owner is really into customer satisfaction so hunt him down if there is something you are missing in your experience.
Bimbo's Octagon
This is the best place for pizza in one of the most wonderful lake areas of northern MN. The wings are to die for too. If you bring the hot ones home as leftovers, stick them in the trunk. They will burn your eyes right through the take out container. The people watching is always good.
Valentini's Supper Club
Authentic italian fare. A long standing must eat kind of place on the iron range. Do come hungry! Prices are very reasonable.
