El Taco De Mexico
The best breakfast burrito in Denver, very authentic. Very little english is spoken here so you need to know what you want, no substituting. They are open all the time and you can just run and get your food in five minutes. There are only a few seats and it is right on Santa Fe, so get it to go, the ambiance is just ok.
Trattoria Stella
This was a fun place to stop and eat while shoppin on a Saturday in the Highlands. The food was really good but I have to say the tables were really close. They have a split level patio and honestly I had a woman's foot practically in my lap the whole time. Dining out is not the same when you hear everyones conversations, or they are listening to yours. It's too bad so many restaurants have to do this to make money. The food was really good, a great place for breakfast of lunch with some wonderful omelets.
Fruition Restaurant
The food was amazing and I just read where the chef was voted one of the best in the country. We loved it but could hear every word of everyones conversations, the tables are extremely close, too close. Really, uncomfortably close. It is too bad because I bet it is a special occasion restaurant for many and I would not want to have to whisper just to not be heard. I know the restaurant is small but way too intimate.
THE EGG SHELL OF CHERRY CREEK
We sued to love this place. My husband used to take my daughter every Sunday. You would always have to wait for a table as they were packed, always. We went a few months ago, Sunday morning 8 am and only a few tables were taken. The food was ok and the service slow. We also thought it was pricy compared to other breakfast places. I wondered if the opening of Snooze close by has taken it's toll, or if they are under new ownership. It was just not the same and I think we will move on too.
Annies Cafe
I love Annie's and wish they had never moved. The food is always good, the service is quick and efficient. The new location is not as "dineresque" as the new one, but much larger. There is not enough parking either, but it is still well worth the trip for breakfast.
Cherry Creek Card Party
Great selection but staff is not too friendly. They have a nice big parking lot but used to have a guard there so you did not park there, and heaven forbid visit the neighboring store. They will not let you use the restroom unless you beg and they have signs on the door with all of the store rules. No cell phone use, etc. This does not create a pleasant enviroment to shop...sorry.
Piatti Ristorante & Bar
I really like this restaurant, it is open and welcoming. The food has never disappointed. The service is good and they aim to please. We went during restaurant week and were not crazy about the selections offered, so we ordered off the menu and it was terrific. We had an interesting experience as our waitress corrected us on the pronunciation of a winery in Napa which we had just visited. We thought that was interesting, as the customer is always right. Anyway, we were unless the winery owner could not pronounce their own name. Oh well. The food was amazing and we let it go, well sort of. I have been for lunch with girlfriends as well, and it is a good place to relax and chat after your meal, they do not rush you.
Coco Nail Salon
I went to Coco's for the first time last week. OMG, what a great place. I had to wait about 10 minutes becuase it was spring breat and they were busy. I was pleased that they called in extra help right away from their other salon. I had the best calf and foot massage of my life from their only male technician that day. He was fantastic and since I am training for a run it was just what I needed. The salon was clean,busy and they did a great job.
Steuben's
Steuben's is a great place to go when you miss your mom's home cooking. I have never had a bad meal there. The truck stop chocolate cake is decadent and worth every calorie. I typically get it to go because I have eaten such a big dinner. They need to work on bringing out all of your food at one time. On several occasions they would bring out the fries well after the burger was brought out. I like my fries with the burger, this is a timing issue in the kitchen they need to work on.
Lala's Wine Bar + Pizzeria
This is a great place to have lunch with girlfriends. The food, especially the pizza is great. They wine by the glass list is fantastic and allows you to try something new. You can dine inside or out and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I have been three times and have not been disappointed. Love it!!
