Mo-Chica
I ate the Arroz con pollo and it was not bad. Nice presentation, but the prices were on the high side for a ??fast food? restaurant type place inside a Mexican Mercado. Probably would not go back to eat there.
Jaybee's Bar-B-Q
After seeing a segment on Food Network I decided to try Jay Bee??s since it??s close to where I live. No doubt it??s a hole in the wall, but I was very disappointed as the food was nowhere near as good as I expected. The lady who is one of the owner??s was working the window, and she was kind of rude and yelling at people to go outside if they aren??t ready to order.
Arturo's Restaurant
One of the better Mexican restaurants in the South Bay. Their shredded beef tacos are mean! The only bad thing about Arturo's is that it's so far from where I live.
Full House Seafood Restaurant
This is my Mom and uncle's favorite Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. They love all the seafood dishes here and always order their prawns. I like their orange chicken the best. Like it's name, this place is always bustling with people. There is a big parking lot just north of the restaurant.
Pacific Whey
I love this place!! We've only eaten breakfast here but I heard their lunch and dinner entrees are also very good. I've tried their cookies and they were so---o yummy!! Their outdoor sitting area gets pretty crowded on the weekends so be sure to go early and stake out your spot.
Zeppy's Pizzeria
If you're on the run and want something fast, this is the place for you. Most people just pick up a slice or two and leave. I tried their deep dish pizza and thought it was okay. The one thing I like about this place is that you can get free refills -- all day long as long as you bring your cup back. Not a bad deal especially if you plan to be at the beach all day!
El Pollo Loco
This is another entry that won't get credited to my friend's charity but I so need to write this. About 8 months ago, I was waiting for my order in the drive thru when the car in front of me handed what appeared to be a little puppy to "someone" inside the restaurant. I was appalled to say the least that that someone inside the window was a manager!! The puppy was returned to it's owner within 20 seconds but the fact that this is a place where food is handled was more than I could bear. What was the manager even thinking?!! I did write to their corporate office and was told the incident was going to be checked into but who knows if anything did happen. People who work in any food establishments should know better than that. Good hygiene is important and is a reflection of the restaurant.
Huntington Beach Todai
If you haven't tried Todai's, you haven't lived. Their all you can eat seafood buffet consists of a wide variety of sushi, a large hot food table and all the desserts and fruit you can imagine. Occasionally, they serve lobster at night but best to call and inquire. If not, they always have a large supply of king crab legs on hand. Lunch and dinner prices vary -- weekends tend to be a few bucks more.
Buttercake Bakery
Stumbled across this bakery on our walk. Thank God one of us was carrying cash or else all we would have been able to do was drool over their cupcakes. We all tried their red velvet cupcake and the consensus waaaaas -- two thumbs up X3!!
Xooro
These were probably the most expensive churros I've ever had --- not even Disneyland charges this much!! I totally get that these were "gourmet" churros that had fillings and coatings on the outside but still, I don't think they were worth it. For me, it's like "been there, done that" and probably not going back again. The churros are good/different but way over priced and only half the size of what a normal churro is.
