Daily there are many pizzas manufactured in Sewickley. Roma wins with thin crust and lot of cheezy ingredients. The bar is the only "real" bar in Sewickley. Real people, good bar food and cold beer... can ya beat that?
Its always packed because its the only restuarant of its kind for miles. The food is loaded with salt and expensive. They char broil alot and tend to burn and dry out the meat. A lack of attention to the grill when they get busy and they always are. The sauces are good. Salads are very small and unfulfiling. The bar is full of middle aged funseakers and after-golf foursomes grabing a drink before heading home. The atmosphere is very nice and the wait staff works hard. The menu seldon changes. Crabcakes are the specialty...wow... how exciting....
Its a local thing so don't think you'll be treated too welcome if you are not from here.... well it's not that bad. But there are more friendly places. The room is quaint and tight. The food is OK. Soups are good, salads are small. Entres are good but don't go there hungry. It will not satify. After dinner hours.....Its a bar without bar snacks? If you want to eat you have to buy a meal .... which are expensive. If you want to drink cold beer, act important and hang out with locals its a nice place. The former owner was a fun loving local, the current owners are strictly business.
If you've never been to Texas or California... this is good Mexican food. Its a fun place to go if you are from the North Hills. Drink out of ball jars like you were back in the 70s. The bar is small and local. It's been here forever. It's Mexican food done by Pittsburgers... and its quaint. (It's the best we can do after the Chi Chi's debacle) Julia Child was not respected by the French and I suspect the Franklin Inn is not respected by any Mexican but you might just like it. In Pittsburgh we hear about the Mexican culture invading our country but at The Franklin Inn it won't worry you one bit..... it's American Mexican complete with the Ben Franklin logo to tie it all together. Leave a good tip the service is excellent.
Its only satisfactory. Sandwiches and fries are good. If you are from Sewickley the menu gets boring. There are several better restaurants in Sewickley. Try them all and judge for yourself. If you are on a Sewickley Penguin hunt be sure to stop there. If you want good service and wait staff that pays attention ... go somewhere else.
Walk in off the boardwalk and order up almost any breakfast you want. Its all good. Pancakes are the speciality but they do everything well. If you're a first time visitor to Cape May, spice up your breakfast with the regional favorities like pork roll or scrapple. There is usually a line out the door .... for a reason. Get up early to beat the crowd, take a walk or run and head to Bills and enjoy your vacation.
I can't remember when Ive had a bad meal there and I've been going there for years.... even before the credit card scandal! If you want Chinese in Western PA look no further. I do miss the crispy fish and the sushi is not as comprehesive as it could be.
Ok so its not on the beach, the mall, in a restored mansion or covered with flowers and vegatation... its on a busy street. Meals are excellent and NOT overpriced like many Cape May restaurants. Wait staff is knowledgable and attentive. This place is for people who like good food and service. A nice mix of seafood and steaks.... FYI: a good steak is hard to come by in Cape May without paying and arm and a leg... Here you get the best of both worlds without paying a steep price. Excellent use of various cheeses in the sauces along with some surprizing ingredients that you wouldn't expect. The andouille sauce on grouper was excellent. Great oysters rockefeller. The exterior, old signage and standard interior have little bearing if you bring good company and enjoy a good meal.
Go there in your swimwear after the beach... sit by the dock, eat great seafood served fresh and drink cold beer.... what could be wrong with that?
Always busy. A great place to gather. they serve cold beer. Excellent gourmet pizzas .... especially seafood pizzas!
