Doc Able's Auto Clinic, Inc.
Ive tried Doc Able's twice now. Once out of sheer emergency being new to the area my car broke down on the expressway and they were the nearest place I could tow it to that had an available appointment. I was given estimates of nearly $2000 in work for my car. Be it that two thousand dollars was not in my budget they did work on my car that would get it up and running again. When I went to pick up my car the leak that they were supposed to fix was still leaking! I dropped my keys walking over to my car and thought "let me just take a peek under neath the car" I did and sure enough there was a drip of oil! Oil that should have been repaired as part of the paid for repairs. Well they take it back into the garage and adjust a hose or two but when they bring it back I noticed my window off track. I paid nearly $1100 for repairs one of the mechanics let it down and it popped off track. As a business I would think that if you damage something you would fix it before returning it back to the customer. My car's twenty years old , I take care of it, I knew it was an occasional problem but my disgust is not one mention of the window. If she says nothing, we say nothing attitude!!
Trattoria D. O. C.
I gave them four stars but service was more like three. Our food was wonderful and tasty. I loved the Mushroom Ravioli and Asparagus Pizza. The portions are huge! Now the service. We came in a little after the doors open it was as though we walked in and caught someone with their hand in the cookie jar. A very awkward male sat us over by a wall. I had mention not wanting to sit near the door because of the draft. He spoke in such a low tone frequently through out our interaction I had to ask him to repeat what he said. Suddenly the room began to get colder, the kitchen door was opened the entire time we had lunch so much so that I asked to have my ravioli reheated.
Hecky's Barbeque
I don't see what all the fuss is about. I was raised eating Harold's chicken and BBQ and there really is no different. Their chicken was tough and dry soaking in BBQ sauce, the coleslaw was average lacking real flavor tossing in a piece of doughy white bread to soak up the sloppy sauce didn't help.
Abigail's Bistro
I cant wait to return to Abagail's. I've worked for many chefs, sampled food all over, I have a picky and distinct palette. The entrees are impressive with contrasting flavors that layer each other! Simply heaven. Yes it seems that there is a certain type of crowd that comes in as regulars but the staff was welcoming, friendly, our waiter suggested fabulous wine pairings for out dinner, I have no complaints. Abigail's is a jewel!!
Phoenix Inn Chinese Restaurant
This is by far the worst Chinese food Ive ever had. The chicken was so unusual in texture I'm not even sure it was chicken!! The flavors are bland, the floors were sticky, the tables were sticky not the best place however as I looked around lots of NW students. I guess some people will eat anything!
Davis Street Fishmarket
Ive not had a bad meal here yet. I absolutely love the clam chowder on a cold day. Tilapia, salmon, salmon Caesar literally some of the best food in Evanston. It always helps when the Chef makes a personal visit to your table to check if your specifications are to your liking!
