I bought a new house ?? well, an old new house ?? and about a week after moving in I first noticed a rather heavy door sort of hidden away in a dark corner of the basement. I had no idea what was behind the door but assumed it was some sort of closet or storage area, or something. I did not have a key to the lock and so the next day called the realtor to see if she had a key. She didn't even know that a door existed down there. A few days later I called this locksmith. He came out and said that it was a very old lock, probably made in the 1940s and it might be hard to pick open because it looked pretty rusty. He said that he might have to drill it out. But after 15 minutes of playing with it he managed to open the lock. Behind the door was a short stairway down to a 1950s bomb-shelter. Amazing. I had him put in a new lock and now I have a hideaway. If you ever need a lock picked this is the fellow who can do it.
