I had a faceleft by Richard Albin in June 2010. The right side of my face ended up being significantly larger than the left and Dr. Albin offered to revise it at no charge. The revision was in January 2012. I incurred a 1"x.5" cautery burn in the front of my right cheek along with some nerve damage. Tissue was also removed from my cheekbone and jawline. The front of my cheek, adjacent to the burn wound was flattened and scarred down. Since April 2012, I have spent a little over $11,000 on fillers and fat grafts into the right side of my face in an attempt to reconstruct it. Later this spring I will have another fat graft as fillers are temporary and I cannot continue this treatment plan for the rest of my life. Dr. Albin has refused to help me with this financially - he had his insurance company deal with me. Their response was that "unfortunately, these things happen" and denied my claim. My photos and the complete story are at plasticsurgeryinjuries dot com. There are no inconsistencies or inaccuracies in my account. I've been very careful to stick to the facts; I have no reason not to. I have all of my medical records. This experience has been devastating and continues to impact my life and dreams - I can't believe telling the truth could make it any worse. I have filed a complaint with the CO Board of Medical Examiners - take a look at the 'minor complication' - plasticsurgeryinjuries dot com.
