I've stayed here a couple times on business trips and found that it offers everything I need. The rooms are clean and quiet and the front desk staff has always been helpful. Definitely not a Four Seasons expereince -- it's a motor lodge -- but definitely recommended if you are looking for a value stay in Palo Alto. One benefit is the self serve waffle iron in the breakfast room. It took me a few tries to figure it out, but I can now make myself a killer waffle in the mornings.
PROS: Cheap for Palo Alto, clean
CONS: all the cons that come with staying in a motor lodge
I found the Moorpark after trying numerous other hotels in the San Jose/Santa Clara area, and it was a nice surprise. Room rates are very reasonable for hotels in the area -- frequently less than $150 per night and occassionally even lower if you can find a deal on a discount site. Rooms are very modern, clean and comfortable, and the staff has always been very friendly. It does have a pool and indoor gym, but both are quite small and not reasons to visit the hotel. Location is great if you are working/visiting areas in the South Bay and Silicon Valley.
PROS: Modern, Clean, Good Value, Convenient
CONS: Not great pool or gym facilities
Located in the center of tiny Hanalei, this place is nearly perfect. Open air bar and eating area, a great lunch menu (try the fish tacos) and a very laid-back mix of surfers, locals and pink-skinned vacationers. The only criticism is the slow and regimented way they seat guests. We waited for 10 minutes to be seated for lunch when there was an entire room of empty tables. The locals behind us grumbled that they do it all the time, but it's worth the wait. They were right.
PROS: Fish tacos, cold beer, open air hawaiian restaurant
CONS: long, unnecessary wait for a table
I crashed my Prius three times in a 30 day period. Chalk it up to having other things on my mind.
Thankfully, I found Pasadena Collision on Insider Pages and brought them my battered car. From the first experience on the phone to the final pick-up, it was an excellent experience. They were professional, courteous and did flawless work on the car. They even completed the work a week before the promised date.
As a bonus, they have a wireless network that I connected to while in the waiting area. With my laptop running and a styrofoam cup of fresh brewed decaf in my hand, I thought for a moment I might be in Starbucks.
Great work, and a special thanks to Alita and Arshak for their help.
PROS: Courteous staff, quick work, free wireless network
The entire experience with Ray was very good. He was courteous and helpful on the phone when I first contacted him about a plumbing problem in our guest bathroom (on the day before my in-laws arrival). He changed his schedule to arrive early in the morning to fix it before his other jobs that day and before my mother-in-law was to come. Needless to say, my wife and mother-in-law were both very happy to have a functioning bathroom. He's a great guy.
PROS: Friendly, helpful, works to your schedule
I had been blindly going to the hectic Starbucks on University for months before finally discovering Coupa Cafe. Just a few steps off University on Ramona, Coupa Cafe is a much more mellow environment with (in my opinion) much better coffee. I haven't tried the pastries, but they look very good as well. Free WiFi doesn't hurt either.
PROS: Great coffee, free WiFi
I love this place. Every time I visit Bainbridge, I try to get one meal in at the Pub. Try the fish and chips, and if the sun's shining, make your way out to the deck overlooking the harbor. It doesn't get much better.
PROS: Great beers, friendly staff, great outdoor tables
I've known Serdar for a couple of years and he is extremely friendly, intelligent, and reliable. The cars are clean and new. You can book with them online at www.snaplimo.com.
Fun ambiance, great for kids, great margaritas.
Great, great place. Noisy, casual dining room, fantastic unique sushi dishes, celebrity crowd. Really a one of a kind restaurant. Expensive.
