Really an awful place to get a haircut. Long wait, bad haircut.
We had seen Elizabeth at several neighborhood birthday parties -- as Snow White, Belle, Jasmine -- before we hired her as Cinderella for our two-year-old's party. She's very professional with a program that keeps the kids engaged for well over an hour (which isn't the easiest thing to do). Her costumes are nice and well-kept, and prices are very reasonable. She also has access to a lot of other talent for boy-appropriate characters, and multiple characters (imagine inviting the 7 dwarves to your party). She's based in Woodland Hills, but covers all of the greater LA area.
PROS: Great for kids birthday parties
I walked in here for the first time and was overwhelmed by the incredible space. It's absolutely beautifully finshed. Owned by two companies Cisco Brothers and South Cone -- prior to opening this store they had only dealt with interior designers directly. Case goods are handmade in Peru and uphosltery pieces are made in California. Prices seem reasonable and the staff is very inviting and friendly.
We hired Camille for our company holiday party which about 30-40 people attended. Camille and her team put together an excellent Mediterranean menu with the highlight being the fabulous pastries (Camille is trained as a pastry chef). She is very friendly and easy to work with. Will definitely use her again. Menu: Shrimp & feta phyllo cups, Alfredo egg rolls, Seared Breaded Chicken Breast with Lemon Caper Sauce, Penne Pasta Puttanesca, hummus & tabouleh, cesaer salad, balava, fresh fruit tart.
Real, old-world tailors are a dying breed, but Pasadena has a master tailor: Maljian's Tailoring. It's men's tailoring only and includes custom-made shirts, made to order slacks, sport jackets, and suits. He also keeps in stock a line of men's accessories and ready-to-wear, which he will alter to fit.
REI is a top of the line sporting goods store. Their heritage and speciality is in outdoor activites, camping, climbing, kayaking, skiing/snowboarding, etc. The staff is well trained and very helpful. The only downside is that you pay for the high quality. Most of the time it's worth it.
Zhanet is really fantastic. She gave me a great cut, the best I've had in years. She's friendly, talkative (but not overly so), and works in a relaxed, low-key environment. I've been skipping around Pasadena-area hair stylists for a couple years and am happy to say I've found someone I can stick with. She specializes in men's cuts.
Great Italian bistro in Old Pasadena, right on Colorado. Lunch or dinner.
Best onion rings ever!!!
This place is classic. I think they still serve $0.09 cups of coffee!
