A driving range and 2 nice public 18's that encircle the Rose Bowl Stadium. During the fall, the course becomes the parking lot for UCLA games. Surprisingly, the course is able to survive all the cars and tailgaters to remain in good shape by public course standards. Pretty flat and open, but generally well designed with several water hazards including a concrete canal that runs the length of the course that has magical abilities to suck in golf balls..
PROS: Nice location, good shape
CONS: Parking lot for rose bowl games
Beautiful public golf course perched on the hills of Palos Verdes. Beautiful ocean views on both nines. Gets crowded, so arrive early.
Nice 2-level driving range, convenient to the Beach Cities and the airport.
9-hole par 3 course, that can be fun if you get there early, or play on a weekday. It fills up on weekends.
They have a number of instructors that seem to be quite good, and inexpensive.
I recently purchased a new set of clubs there and had a very good experience. The person that helped me spent time to understand my game, my budget, and went out of his way to find a used set that met my needs. I felt no pressure to be upsold. Testedthe clubs in the in-store (video) driving range. Great selection.
We used Michael for our wedding in 1998, and he put together a beautiful album with a mix of color, black and white, and sepia tone pictures. The candid shots from the reception were some of the best. His likeable, easy-going personality makes the usually tedious family and wedding party photos quite painless. Plus he got along well with mothers of both the bride and groom. Not cheap, but also nowhere near the cost of some of the more expensive LA-area photographers.
Probably the best experience I've ever had buying running shoes. They examined my feet, my gait, asked questions about my running style, mileage, etc. Then recommended several types of shoe. No hard upsell to more expensive shoes.
Sandwiches, fish and chips, burgers, it's all very good pub food. Also a nice place to have a beer and watch a game. Smack in the middle of old town Pasadena, it's easy to find.
Mama D's is famous for the quality of it's staff. They are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Even a little too friendly if you don't like the waiter introducing himself and shaking hands with everyone at the table. The food is very good. They have an tremendous range of pastas. I prefer the Dane's Dish, or their incredible meatballs. They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait for a bit and either take a walk on the beach or sit outside and sample their fresh garlic bread. Great for families.
A very good higher-end Italian restaurant just steps from the beach. Nice little bar looks directly out on MB Boulevard and is a perfect place for people-watching. Food is generally very high quality. If you can, it's fun to get a table in the largecave-like wine cellar in back.
Refinanced our mortgage in 2003. Very easy to work with. Quick to respond to questions. Locked us in at very good rate.
