Great find ! My boyfriend had been in the mood for a burger, so he did some research and found out about 26 beach. As soon as we walked in we just know it was gonna be good, every thing about the place was friendly and inviting. We sat on the sunny "garden style side" which was perfect, had a cool relaxed vibe. Service was great. We both ordered there famous burger which was the best burger I've had in LA. It ended up being a really nice time.

The most reasonably priced brunch you'll find this side of Sepulveda, you can easily share one of their dozens of egg scrambles and amazing French toasts. My favorite is hands down the "Polar Bear," which consists of two French toast croissants stuffed with while chocolate, berries and topped with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Yes!

26 Beach is...well interesting. The food is fantastic, however the decor is like Grandma's dining room meets a Southern cafe. It's very odd to say the least. The exterior is simple, it's mostly a brick building. The interior is where the decor gets nutty. There are tacky old statues and pieces of old beat up furniture, old dressers, random mis-mosh of tables and chairs. The dining room is much more put together and it feels like you're in a different restaurant. They two rooms don't go together at all.

THE BOMBAY BURGER...
The food, as I said is great, especially the BURGERS! 26 Beach has an interesting menu, very eclectic mix of Breakfast, which includes 12 french toast options, 10 Hawaiian Style Royals, 7 delicious pasta scrambles then a few of the typical breakfast items. If you go for breakfast you must try the The Polar Bear, it's 2 French "croissants" toasts with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, fresh berries, Melba sauce and grated with white chocolate. This thing is more like a dessert, but don't be scared, take a chance and go for it. Everyone knows sugar is the perfect food. That's why God invented it for us. For all the great breakfast options they have I was extremely disappointed with the Breakfast Sandwich, it was dry, the bread was too thick and there was entirely too much lettuce. So like an ugly child just pretend it doesn't exist and pay attention to one of the other menu items.
THE HICKORY BURGER...

When it comes to the rest of the menu, they have over 20 salads, pastas, pizzas, sandwiches and 17 delicious, creative and interesting Burgers! All their burgers are 100% Angus Beef, but can be substituted for Kobe upon request. Stick with the Angus, Kobe is intended to be eaten as a steak, it's not meant to be ground and is overrated for burgers. My favorite burger is the Brunch Burger, a fried egg, thick and delicious applewood bacon and cheddar on top of the burger with mayo, lettuce and a tomato. The egg, applewood bacon and cheddar combined with the tasty juicy burger is simply delicious. This is one of the best burgers I've ever had. The bun was solid, the meat was cooked to medium rare as requested and it held together as I ate it. I have no complaints with their burgers, except that I want to eat them all the time.

Besides The Brunch Burger they have a plethora of very interesting other burger options like:
Caprese Burger - fresh melted mozzarella, heirloom tomato, baby mixed greens and drizzle of balsamic reduction.
Bombay Burger - coconut curry sauce, mango chutney, lettuce and tomato.
Italian Burger - mushrooms, marinara sauce, mozzarella, lettuce and tomato.

And for all you sissies or sucky people that don't eat meat, they also offer a Namaste "Veggie" Burger which is made with grains, legumes and vegetables. As well as the Gobbler a thick hand formed turkey burger and the Salmon Club, a grilled hand formed salmon patty burger.

If you really wanna try something different when it comes to burgers, 26 Beach Cafe does something with a burger I've never seen before and it's gotta be the oddest burger on the menu, the P B & J. It is exactly what it sounds like, creamy Skippy's peanut butter & Knott's Berry strawberry jam on top of the Angus Patty. This isn't really my style of a burger, but hell they do a great burger so if you like burgers and P B & J, I bet you'd love it....well maybe...

Cons: The Decor

I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great brunch spot. They have savory and sweet dishes that complement each other. If I go with 2 or more people some of us order something sweet and someone else orders something savory then we can all share and taste. Their breakfast pastas are so rich and decadent. The cheese is so creamy and melts all over the pasta. The french toasts can be ordered as desserts and topped with ice cream. The peach melba french toast is exactly as it sounds. Check out the menu on their website with the pictures and you will see for yourself.http://www.26beach.com/menu.htm

Great place for breakfast! Our favorites are the spicy pork chops or the royales. The omlettes are always good too. We stop here on the way to the beach by bike. Quaint outdoor seating.

26 Beach is a great place for a weekend brunch or holiday breakfast or lunch. So many wonderful dishes to choose from. It is always difficult to decide if I was going to have the French Toast (with a side of Bacon) or one of the burgers, or maybe a sandwich or maybe this time an omelet!!!! My mouth is watering already.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in all of LA! Whether I have a simple fruit/yogurt parfait, or go for a delicious french toast or egg/noodle combo... it's all a stand out! Great drinks and service and would recommend to anyone!

The setting here is very nice! Very quaint. The turkey burger is one of the best I've had. Definitely recommend this place for brunch, but make sure you have reservations.

The first time I cam here was for Mother's Day and it was honestly one of the best brunches I've ever been to. Despite the wait, I occupied myself with the best champagne and peach nectar juice. I highly suggest this place and the decor is really cute!

Chop was moist, blk. beans good and eggs done correctly. Great buzz in resturant and would go back! Menu was creative and different enough to want us to come back,

Venice is a great neighborhood for eclectic food places and trendy eateries which is why 26 Beach stands out: it is neither. It's just a great little place that is often overlooked because it fronts onto Washington and parking can be dicey on occasion. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for dinner for the last few years when we're just craving a nice dinner and a good bottle of wine and don't want to go to the trouble ourselves. I think combined we've probably had almost everything on the menu. Some favorites are the fresh fruit salad which, especially in the summer, is a great substitute for dessert. I'm a big fan of the meatloaf - it's just to my liking without all those annoying veggies taking up valuable meat space. And the garlic mashed potatoes that come with it are reason enough to eat here. The chocolate cake and apple crisp are always amazing and we usually get one or the other even if we're completely full and can't eat another bite. We've also never had a problem with the service and have been seated promptly with a reservation on the weekends and without on weeknights.

We went for breakfast and it was really disappointing. My friend ordered the Huevos Rancheros....it was actually only one egg with a small sponnful of beans on the side. He had to ask for tortillas. I ordered a breakfast sandwhich which was served with french fries. The sandwich was bland and french fries for breakfast was just too greasy for me. The waiter was not very friendly or attentive even though they weren't busy at all. The bill was over $30 for a two bad breakfast meals. I won't be going back.

Very enjoyable meal. First time at this restaurant. Drinks and salads came quickly. Food did take a little longer.then maybe it should have.
Waitress was very personable and, I thought very cute. Would recommend this place. I'll be back again for the food and to see the waitress.
Parking was no problem and it was nice to eat on the patio.

26 Beach offers Italian-American style pizza, pasta, and gourmet sandwiches and burgers. Served by a friendly and courteous staff underneath the canopied Ivy-esque patio, or indoors amidst an art-deco inspired dining room, this restaurant promises that you'll leave with a full belly, if not a doggy bag.

I don't know what people are talking about, I make it a point to visit this place everytime I'm in town from New York. Everyone is extremely nice from managers to servers. Wine list could be a little bit bigger but they have gotten a really solid selection. The menu is amazing, it can satisfy everyones' desire. Although portions are enourmous but it seems that people in LA lilke that. The ambience that's created by the design of the place is very calming.

Don't recommend at all. We were there (party of 3) on today, 04/16/07, at around 1:30 PM. We got seated by the manager pretty quickly which seemed very promising to us. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the waitress came to us and took our order around 1:45. After about 10 minutes after that we received our appetizer. And then that was it. No one came to the table after that. At about 2:15 after seeing other tables that arrived after us getting their orders, we started getting frustrated, so we asked for our waitress. She came to our table and said that she doesn't know what is going on with our food and she'll go check. At 2:25, after not hearing from her we decided that we were done waiting and decided to pay for our sodas and leave. As we walked to the front to pay our check, one waitress tried to convince us to stay as our food will be ready in a minute. As we were paying our bill the manager came forward with the food. We said that we don't want the food anymore. He said that we only ordered the food at 1:47 and it has only been 39 minutes since we ordered. Isn't that funny the manager trying to justify that it has only been 39 minutes since we ordered. He then resumed explaining that they were giving us time to work on our appetizers. Excuse me but what a pathetic excuse. We said it is OK and we don't want the food anymore. And that was it. No apology from anybody. No the waitress, not even the manager. He then comes back and says if we want to take the food home for "Free" as he won't be able to resell it to anybody anymore. Can you believe that?

You'll never miss if you take guests to this restaurant... the variety is huge, and the ambiance is much better than say, Cheesecake Factory or another chain. Eggplant Parmesean, the Madeira Chicken Pasta and an awesome Ceasar Salad plus the very cute patio make this perfect California dining. Plus - a killer breakfast menu for those who love to get their sugar fix in the morning.

I thought the dining room on the covered patio was cutely decorated. Had a nice ambience with the mismatched china and candlesticks. I found the menu to have such a great variety of foods and something for breakfast and non-breakfast diners. The service was very slow and I had to ask a few times for the side item that I had ordered with my meal. The server kept politely apologizing, but after a while I became pretty annoyed. Food was great, but they need more people in the kitchen!

Upon entering this restaurant I wasn't quite sure what to expect. One dining room reminded me of a mom and pop place with bad wallpaper. The other side was diming lit and resembled a nice restaurant that looked like it should belong to a steakhouse. But I was surprised by the food! Not only were the portions big but they were good! On the night I went they had their windows open instead of relying on air conditioning. I don't know if that is something they do all the time but to be on the safe side go later if you like to dine and be cool.

This is a great place to bring out of towners, or just round up your friends/family and head out for a delicious meal. Weekends offer somewhat of a wait at times, but I promise it's worth every second. Parking (metered) is available on the street (out front) or in back (free).
Their menus range from Healthy to the complete opposite end of the spectrum. They have the standard egg breakfasts, and the to-die-for sweet tooth pleasers such as fresh fruit stuffed french croissants covered in sweet syrup-y sauce. They even have an Elvis-like Peanut Butter & Banana stuffed croissant thingy with (if memory serves) chocolate syrup.
Their salads are fresh, filling and fabulous. Many to choose from. They also have the standard American fare such as burgers, chicken, steak, etc.
Highly recommended on behalf of myself, roommate, neighbors and entire family who is sure to go there every time they're in town.
Be sure to go on an empty stomach.

This is one of my standbys - I go here frequently because a number of the items on the menu are excellent and the atmosphere/dining area is fabulous! This is a perfect place for a romantic dinner or girls luncheon. The patio is something like a cross between an English tea garden and a beach bungalow. Service isn't that great most of the time and parking is limited. I think the portions are RIDICULOUSLY huge, so I suppose the prices are good, but in the end its expensive as the food goes to waste, especially if you have a salad. Their Warm Brown Rice salad, Pan Fried Goat Cheese salad, burgers and chocolate cake are to die for!

My friends were impressed: how did you find this place? It was the perfect little place with a nice, delicious menu. The outdoor patio is adorable- perfect for a bridal shower. The biggest problem is space when you're waiting for your table and parking on weekends. Just valet, and it will be alright! Enjoy.

It's unfortunate that the service is so unbelievable bad here because the food is good, and there's lots to choose from. I live nearby and gave them several chances to redeem themselves. When eating there, once seated, the wait staff takes a long time to get to you. Then, they don't ever check on you, drinks are left empty, and if you are in need of anything after the food comes, you're out of luck. We switched to take out to avoid the service, and were turned off even more!! Nobody even looks at you when you're stanging there trying to ask for you food.
CONCLUSION: Don't bother! You can find the same food with less hassle and attitude!

A group of my girlfriends and I have made this our breakfast of choice. There's just something to be said about having a Polar Bear for breakfast: croissant, topped with vanilla ice cream, surrounded by luscious berries, AND a chocolate dipping sauce!!! That's my idea of breakfast ... They also have Greek Eggs which are amazing ... who could go wrong with olives, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, and pasta with your eggs??? I would definitely recommend this place. The new location they've moved to is very cute, but is no longer on the beach (as the name implies).

26 Beach is a terrific little place. I've been here many times for Breakfast, lunch and dinner and have yet to be disappointed. Their French Toast breakfasts, and salads are their best items. But everything on their menu is great.

Very popular with the locals. I recommend sitting out on the patio. Parking is a little tight in the tiny lot in the back, but there is street parking on Washington, and on the street behind the restaurant.

Pros: The entire menu, Ambience
