I happened upon this page, and was compelled to stop and write a review. Below, is a negative review that is inaccurate. Dr Miller has been my vet for 25 years. Her practice is moderately priced, and for the service and facility and her brilliance and compassion, you get much value for your buck. Also, her business does many charitable things, including helping to place strays that no one else will take, and she very often does pro-bono spraying and nuetering. She loves animals more than anyone I have ever met in my life. I have referred dozens of people there and they are all lifetime clients and happy. Our animals are well cared for. As for the city of New Britain, they are responsible for their choices about aggressive and dangerous animals, not a vet. SO, from this pet-owner who has the facts, feel happy and safe chosing the Animal Hospital of Berlin! Their office is clean and professional with a caring and competant staff, and Dr MIller, well, there is no equal - I moved 45 minutes away and still make the drive because she is simply the best!

We have been going to the Animal Hospital of Berlin for about 10 years. We have always been very satisfied with the care we received. The staff is knowledgeable and professional. The facility is clean. The people who work there truly love animals and work hard to provide good care. We are grateful to them for all that they have done for us over the years.

Disclaimer: I am not employed by the Animal Hospital of Berlin however, I know the employees well and am very well acquainted with the hospital. The name attached to this response is my own. I am not hiding behind the anonymity of the internet.

Yes, the Animal Hospital does humanely euthanise animals for the Town of New Britain. Unfortunatly the majority of these animals are Pit Bulls who through careless breeding and/or mistreatment are extremely aggressive animals. Pit Bulls can be wonderful companions and I know of many that are. it is not a fault of the breed but rather the circumstances of their upbringing (or breeding) that cause extreme aggressive behavior.

Not every dog or cat can be saved. Once a dog is taken into custody by the town that dog belongs to the town. With that ownership comes the legal ramifications if that dog should ever happen to attack.

In addition there is the financial cost to the town of caring for animals indefinately. In a perfect world there would be unlimited resources for care of ALL homeless strays. We all know that is not the case.

The animal hospital does do extensive charity work for local animal rescue groups as well as The Hungerford Nature Center. Each year many stray animals are adopted out by the hospital. You can always stop the hospital to visit the current residents waiting for homes.

As for cost? Prices are comparable to those of other veternary hospitals offering a similar level of care.

Pros: Caring and Professional Staff

Cons: None noted

.

This VET is Way too expensive and has no compassion for animals. I've also been told that this particular vet euthanizes dogs that arent even sick for the Town of New Britain. Because of this, I will not go there. Perhaps these vets should try doing something nice with their talents and help people with animals or do a spay/neuter clinic!!
