Manager Dave Dimatteo doesn't mind LYING to his customers.
I got a phone message from Dave saying they're running a $16.95 oil change special, and when I bring in my car they'll perform a 29-point maintenance inspection. I called and set up an appointment, mentioning the oil change and the inspection he offered on the message.
When I brought my 1991 Chevy Astro in, he didn't seem to remember that I mentioned the 29-point inspection. I ordered an oil change and inspection, making another brief reference to the phone message special.
That was about 9:45. By 4:30 that afternoon, I hadn't heard from him, so I called and he said it was all done. When I went to pay, he said it was $21 something. Surprised, I agian mentioned the phone special, whereupon he charged me the reduced price.
Thinking he forgot the special when they were working on the van, I wondered if they did the inspection, so I asked. He said, yes, they did the inspection. Among other things, he said they
. topped off the windshield washer fluid
. checked the air filter (clean)
. rotated the tires.
When I got home, I checked the tires. They had NOT been rotated, the windshield washer fluid was NOT topped off, and I severely doubted they did anything with the air filter.
I called him the next day to ask why these things were not done, and he SHIFTED BLAME to his technicians for the tires and WW fluid. As for the air filter, he said it was the Cabin Air Filter they had checked. When I asked my regular mechanic if the van had a cabin air filter, he said no. Dave was CLEARLY LYING when he said they checked the cabin air filter!
When I confronted him about these issues, he never looked me in the eye, and said he doesn't baby-sit his techs.
He doesn't mind losing my business and anyone I refer away from him.
