I don't care how many jobs are created in the business of producing trash; it's still trash. While some companies are understanding when you ask them to remove you from their mailing list, others can be beyond disrespectful and won't heed an individual's request for them to stop the harassment of spam mailings.
For instance, Assurance Wireless (supposedly affiliated with Virgin Mobile) is sending me junk snail mail, and refuses to remove me from their promotional mailing list using only my name and address. They insist on having my phone number too. By deliberately producing trash to fill my mailbox and ultimately the landfill, they are being poor stewards of their own and the earth's resources. This is an example of a company that doesn't respect people, the earth, or its future.
