I shopped here and can truly say that it was the first time and the last time. The owner Bill is a jerk, if your not going to spend thousands of dollars here then you would be better off going somewhere else. There isn't enough floor staff to help, so if you don't have an idea of what you want the sales staff wont take the time to offer suggestions, they will just walk away from you and go help someone else

My wife and I bought about two thousand feet of brazilian slate, crema marfil marble, turkish travertine, two kinds of glass, plus 5 granite counter tops and floor soundproofing material from them. The price was excellent. For example, counters were $340 each, the slate was about $3 per square foot.

The showroom is really large, with good lighting. There are hundreds of kinds of floor and wall tiles on display, including handcrafted porcelain, central american decorative stuff, and the usual variety of white and biscuit bathroom tiles. Since my wife is an interior designer, we went for more modern and natural materials everywhere, and there are more than a hundred kinds of natural stone tiles also. We were so surprised by the low prices that she completely changed her flooring concept when we saw the slate.

The place is really busy on Saturdays, and it can be hard to get a salesperson. The sales people really know their stuff, by the way -- don't hesitate to ask them about different products, installation info, etc. However, if you want personal attention and the chance to brainstorm with one of them, try to come on a weekday.

Strongly recommended.

Pros: Huge selection, lots of stone, glass and countertops

Cons: Sometimes hard to get a sales person

We did our whole house with stone flooring from Import Tile, and got great prices. For example, the travertine floor tile was $3.95 - half what we expected - and black granite counters were $340, so we bought 5 of them, saving thousands. The selection is very good, comparable or better than any other tile store I've been to in the area. And they stock most stuff, so we didn't have to wait weeks for our order.

Came here looking for unglazed quarry tiles for baking. not the conventional tile customer but I took a look around and they have quite a varied selection. There aren't too many floor clerks here to help so you'll have to get someone's attention, but do know the square footage you'll need - as with any tile shop. These people deal with primarily contractors so they know what they're doing. They also sell marble and granite. If you're looking for a small slab or a broken piece, they have good discounts - a few square foot slab for $15-40. I got my 6x6x0.5 tile for about 80cents after tax.

I have been shopping at various tile stores in the area and each told me 6-8 weeks to order almost everything I was looking at. Import Tile not only had what I needed in stock but was priced lower than the other stores. I found my bathroom tile in the bargain area which was half of what I was expecting to pay. They have a great selection of glass tile, I used in my kitchen backsplash. Service was great once I got someone, they are really busy.

This store has a pretty good selection and some of the better prices I've seen around (natural stones, ceramics, mosaics, mexican, etc). The showroom is modest, but at least all the tile you see is typically in stock. The worst day to go is on Saturday. It is difficult to get any help since they are so busy. Expect to be waiting for up to 30 mins to get assistance. Between contractors buying tile for the following week and all the do-it-yourselfers hogging the hired help, it's no wonder the staff can be cranky and unavailable to help you out. My suggestion is take a day off of work to look at tile here or go to The Tile Shop or Berkeley Design center where customer service seems to be much better (of course they aren't open Sundays either). If you do purchase tile here, look around, make a selection, then walk outside and call in your order over your cell phone. It really expedites the whole process.

I love the floor stone tiles here at Import Tile Co. I've always wanted to decorate my kitchen floors with the stone tiles like they have in Italy. My aunt who lives in Italy have the same tiles and I'm so jealous by how beautiful they look. The staff here are good and concerning with your visit. The prices are ok and affordable.
