last week we bought a used volkswagen from McKenna. Happy with the car, but the service was terrible. We paid full asking price (maybe we are the suckers), but then thinking with full price, maybe the service would be great... definitely not.

Did we ever feel nickel and dime-ed. They were unwilling to throw in window tinting (even give a discount on it), when we went for the final test drive we noticed a head light was burned out. It was about 8pm so the service dept was closed - no one there could change the bulb and they wanted us to come back tomorrow to pick it up (we are a 250 mile round trip away)... we did NOT want to come back for a headlight. The sales guy was looking into seeing if they could drive the car out to us - no, they could not. Finally my husband took at look and changed the bulb in about 90 seconds. The car was on fumes for gas, and we asked about a fill up (especially with all the hassles), sales guy said he look into it - got into the car and still on fumes - gas light on.

Then about 15 mins into the drive home I noticed no floor mats. When we stopped for gas I looked in the trunk to see if the floor mats were there - nope, no floor mats anymore. Surprisingly the spare tire was still there.

The following day we called (and got voice mail) to ask if perhaps the floor mats were removed during cleaning and not put back... no one has yet returned our call.

Great car, terrible sales experience. Glad we will not have to go to McKenna for servicing! Hope you are able to find a great car somewhere else, where you can also get great service.

Look... I love my car and the price paid was competitive, but the pros of this major purchase stop there. I bought a used car from McKenna and did all the appropriate research online in advance. Their website indicates "contact our online sales rep" for the best pricing available only to the saavy online shopper. I did, they offered me an amazing price and then told me that price was a mistake when I got there. I was assured it was a mistake, not a bait and switch deal. The price offered in the end was not a bad price but it was not the one quoted.

The car was not well prepped, with a number of obvious problems which should have been corrected. It is not a Volkswagen, so perhaps they just did not feel it was important. One of the rear window shades in the back was improperly opened by the salesman Kelly and slipped inside the door - gone until I figure out how to open the door and fix it. The nav system was frozen in Mexico, needed a new satellite antenna which was covered by the warranty on the car... stupid things that they just didn't care enough to handle.

I was truly let down about a month later by McKenna. They had placed paper plates on the car. I assumed I would get new plates from the DMV. I did receive the registration, but no tags. I called and they said the plates were under the paper and all I had to do was remove the paper. I did and they had never placed a current 2011 sticker on the car so my plates were expired. Timing was bad, because I was getting ready to move. Their DMV rep told me she would send me a form and I would get the tags in four weeks or so... I told her that didn't work for me and she said she would call the Sales Manager. Never heard from them again.

So I believe they did bait and switch me on price, did not appropriately service the car I purchased and really let me down on customer service and follow up. I would not recommend McKenna based on my triple strike experience!

I got burned by McKenna VW and when I tried to complain to the General Manager - they swept me under the rug. Could not even get a call back. I leased a vehicle, the sales person never explained the insurance coverage that is required with a lease. They let me drive off then 6 months later - they figured out I did not have the right coverage - they not only made me triple my coverage, it had to be retro active to the date of the lease. Their sales people are SHADY and the customer service is horrible. Take my advice - save yourself the headache - DO NOT PATRONIZE MCKENNA VW they will rip you off.

Pros: They sell a good product - I love VW's

Cons: Questionable sales techniques, HORRIBLE customer service

I absolutely wish I had never bought a vehicle from this Volkswagen dealer. They have been completely rude and arrogant from the day I was to pick up my car. They said it was ready and made me wait around for 4 hours. Countless times service has talked to me like a small child and completely overcharged for any service they could perform. The cars are not reliable and with only 25,000 miles I have been in and out of the service shop. I would never recommend buying or leasing from this dealership.

We traded in our car and later realized our trade in was terribly undervalued and our car we purchased was way overpriced. Call us idiots for not researching, I call them frauds for knowingly gouging "vip" customers.

I planned on buying a car today and had been in conversation with the internet sales department. They quoted me a price, I confirmed the price prior to making the 40 mile drive. When I got there, they did not make good on their word. From this reporters perspective, they have no integrity. Thanks for listening....

This was the only dealer in Orange County that would take my VW the same day. I did not want to leave it overnight anywhere. They fixed it quickly and I even had time to go down to H.B. Pier before returning to work!!! Love this Surf City Dealer!

I go there I have always get good customer service. Great Friendly people. To service a BMW car is very costly so I can't blame the dealership for charging me so much. But I sure get good customer service.

Because they have a decent sales department. That's it. If you need anything fixed - go elsewhere. I wouldn't trust my car with their service department as they were very willing to charge anything and everything evern things under warranty. The reason they do this is because the dealer has to eat the cost. I'm positive not all McKenna's are like this one, but this one definitely gives the whole company a black eye.

PROS: location?
CONS: it's actually a dealership???

EXTREMELY unsatisfied with A) the service that I was given here, when using the service department. They tried to charge me for a part that they knew was under warranty, AND they tried to charge me to fix a part that they knew was covered under a class-action lawsuit. and B) the VW that I leased from them was a piece of junk, with basiclly everything falling apart on it. JUST NOT RIGHT!
