I visited The valley park location. My salesperon Bob D. help me even though I was only looking for some mismatched pieces in the clearance section. Bob was friendly and assisted me in finding furniture for my apartment in rolla. After I graduate from MST, my first stop will be at Carol House to buy some nice furniture from
Bob. The service is much better at Carol House than the other St. Louis furniture stores. I will shop there again.

We worked with the Store Manager, Carl, and he asked what we were looking for, walked us to the area of the showroom containing recliners, showed us a few features/benefits of the manufacturers and then asked us to look around and he'd be available as soon as we had any questions or found something... PERFECT! Not only have my experiences with Carol House been great, but they are also a HUGE community supporter and give back time and dollars to help better St. Louis. What more can you ask for from a local business owner, really? I'll continue to go back because they carry the greatest selection I've found, offer prices that are of great value, and their service has been impeccable for me. Well... I am another unsatisfied customer in what seems to be a rather large list of them. I purchased a dresser for my fiance's home in the second week of September 2010 and was told that it would be delivered the following Saturday to his home. I knew that he had been having problems with his cell phone so I gave my cell phone number as well for contact at the time of delivery. I should have known something wasn't right when the salesperson acted excited over the fact that I was paying with a debit card rather than credit card. I now know that it was to prevent me from recouping my full purchase amount of over $600.00.
I took off work on the delivery date and was at his home. We were both working in the back yard mowing grass and weekeating when the delivery supposedly took place. We became concerned when we did not see the delivery truck after several hours so we went inside to call them and found that they had left a message. We called Carol House and were told that they were already back at the store and no longer making deliveries (I can't believe they didn't hear us in the back yard and do not believe they ever showed when they did not get a response to their call). They wanted to reschedule for the following Thursday. I called back and told them that I did not recieve a call and they told me that they did not have my contact number (they were wrong) and that they were going to charge 50.00 for the redelivery. I told them to forget an additional delivery and told them they could keep the dresser and asked if there would be a charge. I was told there would not be one; they later called back and left a message that if I called them within 5 MINUTES they would HALVE the 50.00 charge with me. Of course, I didn't get the message until later that day since they AGAIN did not call my cell number. On the following Tuesday, they again called and left a message on my fiance's phone asking me to get in touch with them. I did so and they stated that they needed my debit card in order to return the money (that they told me on SATURDAY that they had already returned). I asked what they were returning and they stated that they were keeping the 50.00 delivery charge (which by the way I was told was a FREE delivery). I was transferred to their customer service rep (and I use this term loosely since they don't even know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE) who informed me that I had never given them my number because it was their POLICY to offer me the opportunity to review the contact numbers and that I had approved the ones they had. She raised her voice on several occasions, spoke over me while I was trying to talk, and in general was as obnoxious as all of the other service members at Carol House. The bottom line, they have already taken the money, for services still unrendered. I asked several times to speak with the owner or her supervisor and was told very nastily that "I am as high as it gets." I wanted to reach Brook or Amy who I understand are the actual owners but after reading the other reviews, do not believe will be of any help. After all, if the majority of the employees have such obnoxious attitudes I will assume that the owners sanction their behavior. In my opinion, they were stupid to loose a 600.00 purchase for a 50.00 delivery fee. Oh, and we were going to buy a formal table, chairs and china cabinet that same night but had to go home and measure the room. All in all, I guess their nasty attitudes cost them that purchase as well. I am SURE there is a furniture store somewhere in the St Louis area that would like to sell us the items we seek. It never fails....what the parents work and sweat for, the spoiled children always destroy....

I was a long-time Carol House supporter and would now tell anyone to steer clear of them. We purchased a house full of furniture from them in 2001 and had a fabulous experience. After the house sustained major water damage, we had to purchase new house full of furniture in 2009 and it has been a bigger disaster than the water damage to our home!!! Our initial purchase was made Labor Day 2009. Furniture was not delivered until December, 2009 and at that time, couch was delivered in wrong fabric and master bedroom set was not delivered with stuff to mount mirror to dresser. Turns out, the couch fabric had been discontinued when we ordered it and someone just substituted something else. Too bad the "substitution" didn't come close to matching the specially ordered chairs to go with them! And when the couch arrived in the warehouse in late October, they didn't bother to alert us that the couch was entirely different than what we ordered. Upon delivery, they tried to get us to accept a $250 gift card to keep the hideous, non-matching couch. Of couse, we said no. We like the chairs, so they said to keep them and they were confident that they could help us find a couch that would work but if they could not deliver the couch, then they would pick up the chairs and refund those as well. And, they assured us that they would bring the mounting material when they delivered the couch and would properly mount the mirror. Well, we ordered the new couch New Years weekend 2010 and it is still not resolved. The house is at the Lake and when the couch arrived in late Feb., they would not deliver it because they didn't have other stuff going to the lake. (Disregard the fact that it was their fault we had to order the 2nd couch and that we PAID to have our furniture delivered to the lake.) I asked them to call me when they had something going and to please give me lots of lead time so I could make sure my schedule was open. They called the end of March - 3 days lead time and I had a surprise birthday party that weekend with out of town guests. They would not move their other delivery, so we were just "out of luck". Hearing no more, I called 6/1 and was told "we have nothing going in the near future". I explained that if you can't deliver the couch as you were supposed to, then you need to refund our money AND pick up the matching chairs as promised and refund that as well. Their solution - I should rent a Uhaul and take the couch down myself (oh, but they agreed to pay for the uhaul rental???) If I felt capable of hauling my own furniture, I wouldn't have gone to a store that could assure delivery, and god knows I wouldn't have PAID to have it delivered!!! (It's only free in St. Louis, which I could understand with fuel prices.) And now they also refuse to take care of the mirror issue, nor will they take back the chairs. They are not truthful and will not fulfill their end of a contract. We spent over $12,000 there, and this is the crappy customer service we received. And I spoke with Brook Dubman about the issues - he is really a great part of the problem. They accept no responsibility, do not try to identify how they can better service the client so problems are not created, and will tell you what you want to hear to get you out of the store but then won't actually honor their committments. The employees take their lead from the leader. Weak leader, weak management, weak employees = horrible service and horrible store. Run, don't walk, away from Carol House furniture. Too bad, as they used to be a great store. What an embarrassment Brook is to the legacy of his father. He should be ashamed of himself.

I was a long-time Carol House supporter and would now tell anyone to steer clear of them. We purchased a house full of furniture from them in 2001 and had a fabulous experience. After the house sustained major water damage, we had to purchase new house full of furniture in 2009 and it has been a bigger disaster than the water damage to our home!!! Our initial purchase was made Labor Day 2009. Furniture was not delivered until December, 2009 and at that time, couch was delivered in wrong fabric and master bedroom set was not delivered with stuff to mount mirror to dresser. Turns out, the couch fabric had been discontinued when we ordered it and someone just substituted something else. Too bad the "substitution" didn't come close to matching the specially ordered chairs to go with them! And when the couch arrived in the warehouse in late October, they didn't bother to alert us that the couch was entirely different than what we ordered. Upon delivery, they tried to get us to accept a $250 gift card to keep the hideous, non-matching couch. Of couse, we said no. We like the chairs, so they said to keep them and they were confident that they could help us find a couch that would work but if they could not deliver the couch, then they would pick up the chairs and refund those as well. And, they assured us that they would bring the mounting material when they delivered the couch and would properly mount the mirror. Well, we ordered the new couch New Years weekend 2010 and it is still not resolved. The house is at the Lake and when the couch arrived in late Feb., they would not deliver it because they didn't have other stuff going to the lake. (Disregard the fact that it was their fault we had to order the 2nd couch and that we PAID to have our furniture delivered to the lake.) I asked them to call me when they had something going and to please give me lots of lead time so I could make sure my schedule was open. They called the end of March - 3 days lead time and I had a surprise birthday party that weekend with out of town guests. They would not move their other delivery, so we were just "out of luck". Hearing no more, I called 6/1 and was told "we have nothing going in the near future". I explained that if you can't deliver the couch as you were supposed to, then you need to refund our money AND pick up the matching chairs as promised and refund that as well. Their solution - I should rent a Uhaul and take the couch down myself (oh, but they agreed to pay for the uhaul rental???) I went to carol house to get my best living rm set ever, spared no expense, bought a flexsteel couch and loveseat with the extended warranty. I couldn't be more disappointed. The set is literally falling apart. The fabric on both the couch and love seat it shredding everywhere. I was so glad I bought the warranty.... until the guy came out. He told me my fabric was already discontinued, and he couldn't repair it. He said sign here, they will have to replace it, well I thought that's ok, at least I won't be stuck with this mess. Ha, that was a joke, he tricked me into signing to let his company off the hook, he didn't even try to do anything. I didn't know that for a while until the letter came from GUARDSMAN, saying they couldn't do anything. I then contacted Carol House, they said it isn't their problem and they no longer use that company. How can no one be responsible. Why pay more when you get crap? And no one stands behind the product.

I explained carefully to the salesperson that my kitchen has a very high (bar height) counter - I explained that it is NOT counter height. I pointed to several high barstools (30") and said that is what I wanted, but in solid wood. The salesperson assured me that he could special order solid wood barstools just like the ones I pointed out.

Well ... the barstools arrived and they were counter height!! It was really upsetting - I felt like the salesperson was dishonest, like he just wanted to get my money and make a sale.

I paid for the items in full before delivery. Carol House will only refund part of my money and they will only give store credit. Talk about adding insult to injury - I will have to go back in there and buy something or lose all the money I paid for the counter height chairs they sold me!!

I will never shop there again!

I will be eternally grateful to them for being so kind,caring and generous. Thank You Carol House. Carol House isn't what it used be. The salesman was execllent though.
I purchased a sofa and 3 chairs from Carol House. The sofa that was delivered was poorly made. I reported it the same day I received it. I was told they would send a tech. out to look at it. I told them I paid for a brand new sofa, not a repaired sofa. After a week of discussion and visits with the responsible individuals, it was replaced. The following week I noticed the chair had a manufacture error (because it had been hidden by the manufacture). I called Carol House and reported it , but was told it was past the 5 day warranty (it had been 10 days) Their solution was to charge me $50.00 for a tech come out to see if it could be repair (which I told them was not possible). I left a message for Brook, who told customer service to call and reiterate that was all they would do for me, because he is very strict on the 5 day policy. I have reported the issue to the BBB, so no resolution as of yet.

I purchased a sofa and a loveseat on October 25. I was told it would not be here by Thanksgiving but I would have it by Christmas. It did not arrive by Christmas.

When it was delivered the deliverymen refused to move the existing sofa out of the room. I was told I could not "return" the purchase as it was a special order. The woman from the store called and said "I understand the room is not ready to receive the furniture." What an ignorant comment! The room was ready--it just needed the existing sofa removed to make room for the new.

It is true, once she pointed it out to me, the receipt does say that they will not move your furniture. I also says they are not responsible for anything broken if they do move your furniture.

While $2,000 is not a huge amount, I should think it is enough incentive for them to move one sofa out of the way to make room for merchandise I purchased from their store!

I will never shop there again.

I'm not usually one to take the time to review a business, but this store has really impressed me over the years. Used to we would go around to several stores before we would make a decision on a furniture purchase but we always ended up buying at Carol House. Now we don't bother shopping around because we know we will find the nicest things there and get well taken care of on price and service.

This is a great furniture store and alwasy our first (and usually last) stop. They have a great selection at a good price, and you can almost alwasy get your furniture within just a couple of days. They do great work for the community - have personally had Brooke donate many items for a charity we volunteer for.

This a very large Furniture store that is family owned. It has an enormous selection of furniture in its showroom and if you still can't find what your looking for , they have a very large selection of catalogs to look through. The customer service at this store is great also. They do free delievery of all purchases.

I think this place is way overpriced. There selection may be good, but I think the prices are on the higher side of most furniture stores. I hate to try to get the best price from a sales person, I would rather they just list the prices as what they will sell it for.

The selection is amazing, and the prices are fair, the furniture is quality, and the stand behind it, they will fix-it or replace it , whatever it takes to make you happy!
