So I came in just to test drive a 2008 Smart Fortwo Passion and after spending less than 3 hours with Steven Tanner Dougherty my car salesmen I

It was really good. Took very little time. Came in with a model in mind and they had the car waiting.

My experience at Lithia Nissan was far beyond my wildest dreams. I rolled out of the parking lot in style with my new shiny dream car! This was my first time ever buying a car let alone a huge purchase. Steven Dougherty made the whole

Everything went well with my time here. Sales people are nice and no pusher than you would expect out of car sales people. Nice selection of cars in stock.

It was good. They seemed helpful and explained everything well. They allowed a test drive twice to make sure we were satisfied.

Kory and Ryan were very helpful and knowledgable. This was our fourth stop and they were the two most professional people we worked with.

We were looking for a (pre-owned) Volvo XC-70 and saw one on http://Cars.com from Lithia Nissan of Eugene. We made an appointment and met with James Hunt, a very professional salesperson. Upon the initial test ride, the car pulled pronouncedly to the right. James ran it through their shop and said it was fixed - that the problem was low tire pressure in the front right tire. Went back, took it for a ride, not fixed. Back into the shop, now the rear tow was out, and they said they fixed that. Clearly, the first time through they rushed it in the hope of a quick sale.
Next day, primarily because of the lack of faith in their service department, we took the car to a local garage with 30 years of experience working on nothing but Volvos. A couple hours and $90 later, the car was diagnosed with a variety of relatively minor ailments. Mostly fluids that needed to be changed (the transmission fluid was BLACK instead of red, etc.), but also there were other minor problems for a total of about $600 in parts and about $800 in labor. I took the itemized diagnostic estimate back to the selling dealer, and much to my surprise, after James (presumably) went to his sales manager, I learned that they were completely inflexible in price. They did not even offer to do any of the work themselves. Their attitude was basically, take it or leave it. So we left!
They were asking several thousand dollars above what the condition of the car warranted (ever see a used car in Excellent condition? Me neither.).
I can only presume that they were not going to fix anything at all, keep the same inflated price, and eventually find some fool to pay the ridiculously inflated price.
My advice - be wary of buying a pre-owned car from this dealer. By the way, before we went in, I looked on the Better Business Bureau site. Lithia is NOT a member, and in the past several years has six complaints, ALL UNANSWERED. My conclusion is that here is a dealership that truly does not care if you do business with them or not.
