We had a wonderful experience with Pal's For Pooches. That's where we adopted our wonderful dog Bandit last year. We had seen his picture on their website and went to just go look at him. Well, he ended becoming a member of our family that day. We instantly fell in love with him! Unfortunately, all of the dogs have to be fostered by someone. Pals For Pooches does not have a "facility". They do the best that they can. It's sad that someone had a bad experience with them.

I will be giving my time , talents, and money to Pal's For Pooches and if SOMEONE is RUDE to me I will not take it personal. Shame on you Ms.Cunningham to make animals suffer just because you did not like HUMAN input (think they might of been put on guard by your attitude). I would like to think that all humans that pick up strays are kind at heart and will not pass a single one by. My sister and her family is a good example as she has SIX CATS and TWO DOGS and they are trying to find GOOD HOMES for them and I cannot count the ones that they have placed or kept with them. Z.

I have not yet adopted a pet from them, but I have been searching, asking them lots of questions about lots of dogs. They are always so patient and forthcoming. I have even had them try to guide me to the right animal or away from one that might not be right for my family. That, to me, is a sign that these people really care for these animals and the families they will go to.

Please support this organization.

What most folks don't understand is that Pals for Pooches doesn't have a facility that they can hold pets in until they are adopted. They rely on people that are willing to "foster" the pet until it is adopted. These people are doing everything they can to help the ones they can. They can't help every stray that comes along - Pals for Pooches needs help in order to help the strays. That's where people like the Cunningham's could have helped out. Just keep the dog and work with Pal's for Pooches until the pet gets adopted. If someone isn't able to keep a pet, there are other resources out there, you just have to search and be patient, after all, most people aren't concerned with the welfare of those that can't help themselves. It's too bad that the Cunningham's attitude is such as it is - that's why there are so many strays. People just don't care or turn a blind eye. Always wanting someone else to do the work or "fix" the problem. When we start helping those that can't help themselves, that's when we are at our best. So, as for Pal's for Pooches, the work I've seen from them has been great. These are regular people trying to do an extraordinary job with what they've got. I'm so thankful there are people willing to be foster parents for those that can't help themselves.

I have had 2 very positive experiences with Pals for Pooches. I found 2 strays at different times. Both times they provided the medicine etc.. that the animals needed. I did have to foster them until they were adopted. However, both were adopted within 2 to 3 weeks. They are a volunteer agency with very little funding--they do what they can and I greatly appreciate this.

We were about to donate to this organization but realized that the local SPCA is better equipped to handle lost animals. We are not sure what purpose they serve in helping lost and or abandoned pets. We will be making our donations to the Houston SPCA.

Ms. Cunningham had an unfortunate experience with Pals for Pooches. All of our dogs are in foster homes and it is unfortunate for a found dog that if the person who finds it can not foster, we suggest taking the dog to a shelter. Yes, shelters euthanize, but it is more humane than letting the dog be hit by a car and dying on the side of the road. If the rescuer comes into Petco with a dog they are unable to foster, they should be told, politely, that we can not take the dog. Not all rescuers understand that we aren't equipped to house dogs. We are sorry that Ms. Cunningham had an unfavorable reaction from our volunteers. We try to address the problems that rescuers have and explain our position. Some threaten to set the dog back out on the street because we are not able to keep it. They can not foster and expect us to do so. We apologize to Ms. Cunningham for our volunteers' behavior and hope there was a favorable outcome for the dog she sent to animal control.

I found a young dog - an Australian Shepherd mix male - about 6 months old - and emailed Pals for Pooches after a few days of no one trying to claim the pup. (I had given him vaccinations and dewormed and put flea control on him as I also have pets and needed to protect them.) Pals for Pooches emailed me back within a few hours. They instructed me to take this pup directly to Dr. Ross in Humble. Pals for Pooches neutered him at Dr. Ross's clinic. I donated newspapers, a bag of food and $25 cash towards the adoption process. The pup was put up for adoption after his neuter healed and Pals for Pooches emailed me the good news that the pup was adopted to a family in Cleveland that owned acreage and another Australian Shepherd adult. I had a very positive experience at Humble Pals for Pooches.

I went, today, to Pals for Pooches at the Pet Smart location in Humble, Texas. We had a stray dog in our neighborhood, had posted pictures with "found dog" notifications in the neighborhood, gave our phone number to call, all with no results. Because we were unable to keep the dog ourselves, we started making phone calls trying to find a rescue organization that could help. I was referred to Pals for Pooches by another lady who used to foster stray dogs.

These people were insulting and rude. The conversation about the dog basically involved their RUDELY questioning me as to why I could not foster the dog, and one lady actually rolled her eyes in contempt that I had only had the stray at my house for two days. When I said I didn't take in stray dogs for a living (meaning fostering is not a service I am prepared to do), Norma and some other woman standing with her immediately replied "we don't do it for a LIVING, either". The implication was it was my responsilibilty, and they were NOT going to take it on. So what is this agency for?? They didn't even bother making a recommendation as to what else I could do.

Well you know what? When a concerned citizen takes in a stray and tries to do the right thing as much as possible, organizations like this have no right to be contemptuous and rude to someone who simply is not set up or able, for personal reasons, to foster an animal.

I had far exceeded what the general public does with a "found" dog. I had taken pictures, hung signs in my neighborhood, knocked on every door on the street, made inquiries, fed and bathed the dog, etc. That was the limit of what I capable of providing at the time.

Frankly, I will NEVER pick up a stray animal again and you can thank Pals for Pooches for my newly acquired outlook. The only reason this organization gets a 1-star rating from me is because there is no 0-star rating (or less than zero rating, for that matter).

The dog ended up at the Houston Animal Control Center. If it got euthanized, so be it.
