This is a beautiful place to visit. They have nice walking paths with lots of beautiful scenery. It's fairly cheap to get, and not usually crowded. They also have a little gift shop if you want to get something
4Few people know about Van Nuy's hidden treasure -- the Japanese Gardens. Turcked away in Balboa park, with a sign that says "water reclimation plant" is this beautiful garden filled with ponds, plants and pagods which uses reclaimed water for the sewage treatment plant next store. Its $3 to get in, though the have free days. They are available for special events too. However, since its next to a sewage plant it can get a little smelly sometimes.

The Japanese Garden is much more than you'd expect for something so close to the 405. This is a great little get away when you want to get out of the city but can't. The hours are funny, so check to make sure they're open when you want to go. Beautiful paths, birds, little waterfalls, wisteria and an all around great feeling. They even have a tea house that is open once a month. They also do special events...
