Howard I. Gandler, MD

Dr Gandler is thorough, realistic, and well-read. He understood what was going on with my body, when other doctors did not (and still don't). He connects the diagnosis and symptoms with what you need to do in your every day life. I've been seeing him for over a year. I highly recommend him for arthritis and fibromyalgia patients.

I was referred to Dr. G by staff at OHSU and followed through by making an appointment. One of things I was not doing about anything in my life at that point. I did not understand this "ghost" disease I had been diagnosed with, and neither did the people around me. He was the first person on the face of this earth who really got it. He is a physician of course, but it was more than that. Since starting to see him 5 years ago, my life has completely turned around for the better.
He may specialize in rhuematology, but he is a "life realist."

I'm not exaggerating when I say that Dr. Gandler saved my life. I was very sick when I walked into his office two years ago and he diagnosed me immediately and put me on the right meds. He's an incredible doctor. Once, he called me at home at 8pm to check on how my new medication was going. He's very proactive and has sincere concern for his patients. He has offices in Portland, Gresham, and (I believe) Salem.

PROS: The best rheumatologist you can get.
CONS: Very busy office.
