Dr. Fialko has been our family's pediatrician since 1996. He has always had an excellent rapport with our daughters from infancy until current age 15. He always listens to my concerns. He may not always "worry" as much as I do about what's going on but he's usually been right. When my first child was born he saw us in the hospital and gave me some great parenting advice I'll always remember - "Trust your instincts, you know your children better than anyone else." He's kind, caring and my daughters love him. I would recommend him completely. I would agree that the staff could be a little more professional and friendly but after seeing so many patients (and their parents) each day and hearing story after story about why people can't pay, etc. I probably would be a little grumpy too!

I have a 9 month old son that I take to Dr. Fialko. As far as the doctor himself, he was very good. He is a no B.S. physician. By that I mean he doesn't skirt around my questions, get's straight to the point (even if I don't like what he has to say), and listens. He doesn't treat us badly for the decisions we make as parents. So overall he seems like a good doctor, who really cares about children. The only issue I have is the staff. I don't like them at all! I made an appointment 4 days after my sons birth and they said in a condicending tone, "You waited that long after birth to get him in? He should have been seen earlier." First off they keep you in the hospital for 24 - 48 hours after birth, I got home on day 2 (day 1 being birth day) at 6pm. Not to mention that they had a peditrician at the hospital that would check in on us and do his pku tests. So I made the appointment on day 3, when I was still hurting pretty badly, give me a break! Also, I wanted to be a late start vaccinator, as well as a choice vaccinator. Anyway, for those of you who are like me the staff is against that, of course. Everytime I go in they give me a hard time about it, even though they know my preference. It makes me not want to step foot in the office. I really have a hard time with respect from staff (expecially the nurses). They also told my sister-in-law that her 3 year old girl shouldn't have a fake tattoo on her check and told her to wash it off immediatly. They need to realize that they are not the childrens parents, and to leave their parenting opinions to themselves.

I was skeptical at first because I heard negative things about the doctor. But I must say, I feel so comfortable with him and he addresses EVERY concern I have, large or small. He isn't the kind of doctor to critique your parenting or make you feel stupid. He is very good my baby who is 10 months old and I would never take him to another doctor. TO NEW PARENTS: dO NOT see Dr Marcy Howard she administered an antibiotic that was 100 times a letal does but luckily Wesley kicked out his iv and saved his own life. Dr Fialko is an excellent doctor. Good luck new parents!

My children have been seen by Dr. Fialko for the last two years. He is one of the more competent physicians that I have had contact with. He is a down to earth type of guy and he is not afraid to speak his mind. His demeanor with the kids is excellent. If you want a pediatrician who is not afraid to practice medicine in the real world, one who might yell at you in a caring voice and one who goes out of his way to accommodate his patients, even if it means long waits and a crowded waiting room, then Dr. Fialko is your man.

I am amazed with the negative responses. Dr. F has treated both of my children numerous times over the past 7 1/2 years. Both children have medical problems beyond the average flu or stomach bug. I have rarely had to wait a long time, he has responded to calls at even 1am for me, and when I did need referrals for the children's needs that wasn't a problem either.

The rooms are clean, the staff is great, and I would always recommend him as a pediatrician in this area.

Ok, if this is any indication of how good of a doctor he is, Dr.Fialko was my doctor from when I was in middle school all the way up to 19 yrs, and he has been my children's doctor also. In addition, he was also my fiance's doctor when he was a kid (along with his 2 sisters) and is also his nephew's doctor. We've never had a problem with him. When we didnt have insurance he tried to keep the cost down by giving us samples, and actually saved our nephew's life by transferring him to Shand's in time to find out that he had a defect that appeared when he turned 1. So to all the people who want to say negative things... no he doesnt ignore problems and he and his staff are very nice people.

I used this doctor when my son was about 9 months old and had problems having bowel movements. Told doctor numerous times and he told me not to worry it was nothing. Switched doctors who then did xrays right away found a blockage and referred me to a specialist. My son was then diagnosed and told had we not taken him to the specialist my son could have died.

PROS:
CONS: Not concerned enough

Oh my, I am glad to see this Dr. listed on this site. I moved to this area 7 years ago and had papers in hand from my pediatrician in NC that my daughter had to be seen at a good hospital. I went through the phone book and called this Dr. My daughter suffered from febrile seizures and had then way more often then she should have. I brought all documentation to him and he kind of pushed it aside. Well about 3 weeks later my daughter was still ill and I called him his response made me about fall to my knees. He told me all that Shands or any other hospital would do was the same as he would, however it was not said so nicely from him. I got in my car and drove to his office got all my daughters records and found another Dr. With in 2 weeks I was at Shands Hospital and my daughter then had surgery. Her seizures stopped. I now have another Dr. and will never recommend this Dr. Fialko to anyone.

PROS: NONE
CONS: disregard to patients and family, not such nice language used when asking q

Having recently moved to the area, I've taken my daugthter to see Dr. Ira Fialko twice now. Both times, we were very impressed with his friendly, fun-loving staff and Dr. Fialko was so personable and quickly ingratiated himself with my daughter, making her feel comfortable during her routine physical. The only reason I did not rate him as a five-star is the long waits we've had waiting for his service. Both visits (with appointments) have had hour-long waits, and there is not much in the way of entertainment options in the small waiting room. So, be sure to bring your own books, etc. for your appointment.

PROS:
CONS: Tends to have long waiting times for appointments.

I used to take my son to Dr. Ira Fialko when we lived in Crystal River, Florida. He is a wonderful man, and great doctor. His staff are nice and helpful. The doctor really knows what hes talking about and diagnosed my son with Hypothyroidism at 2 weeks old. I would recommend him to anyone with a child.
