This is a full-service financial services firm that offers life insurance, annuities, health insurance plans, and mutual funds. Their main focus is on life insurance, and I think they have the best life insurance product around. The life insurance is a little bit more expensive than most, but you build up more cash value than you would with most other companies. The sales associates are very knowledgeable and friendly and the office is very nice. Ask for William Platt and he'll take care of you....
I had fun ice skating here for about 10 minutes. The music is good, but the prices are crazy high, and the rink is always incredibly crowded. The rental skates are terrible...they hurt my ankles and made it very uncomfortable to skate. But the atmosphere is very nice....you get a nice view of Central Park as you skate. There is a snack bar to get some hot chocolate if you get too cold. One problem with this place is if you get tired skating, there aren't many places to sit down to take a break.
PROS: Nice location in Central Park, good music
CONS: High prices, crowded skating rink
I got baptized at this church. Whitney Houston grew up in this church, and her mother still belongs to it, and sometimes you may see Cissy Houston at service. I don't really go here anymore because I am not too religious, but when I did go, I always enjoyed the service. The pastor is very nice, and the congregation isn't too gossipy. The church is gorgeous... a beautiful place to get married in. There's always a lot of parking in the lot across the street. The only thing is sometimes the service can be too long, especially on the first Sunday of the month during communion...you will be in there for four hours....
PROS: Beautiful Church, Great Pastor
CONS: Long service
Okay, so I'm a bit biased here. My family has been a member of this pool for over 10 years. I worked here as a lifeguard for four, and swam on the swim team for about 5 or 6 years. This is a great place for kids. The lifeguards are friendly and there are hardly ever any problems at this pool. It is a private pool--you must be a member to swim here, unless you are a member's guest. They offer swim lessons in the mornings, and there's four different pools---a baby pool, a kiddie pool for toddlers, a huge, olympic size pool, and a diving tank. They have adult swims every hour on the hour for twenty minutes. Also, this is the only pool a know in the area with diving platforms, and they open them up during some adult swims and let kids jump off of the platforms during adult swim. There's also a snack bar....nice place for families to enjoy themselves.
I used to go here all the time when I was younger. It has a golf range, miniature golf and batting cages. The miniature golf course is pretty nice, and the prices are reasonable. The place is never crowded, and there's always ample parking. The staff is also very friendly. I think if you are a serious golfer, they have monthly rates to use the golf range. They also offer golf lessons. I want to reiterate that this place is never crowded....it's a nice, quiet atmosphere.
PROS: Nice, quiet atmosphere; never crowded
I love Mt. Fuji's. This is by far the best Japanese Steakhouse I have ever been to, and I have been to many. Their prices are excellent, and the mixed drinks are soooo good...i highly recommend the pina colada. Also, this is the only Steakhouse I know of that has a buffet-style salad bar that comes with your meal. You don't just get the mushroom-broth soup and Shrimp appetizer... the appetizer bar is also included and the salad bar selection is amazing--tasty chicken wings, sweet and sour shrimp, and fried vegetables--and all that comes with your meal at a great price. This is a nice place to go on special occasions.
PROS: great appetizer bar
I have never gone to Century 21 without finding a great bargain. This is THE place to go to find great clothes at Incredible prices!!! It's located near ground zero, and it's a pretty big store. They have a Junior, Misses, Mens and shoe department. I have bought nice suits, jeans, dresses and bathing suits here at great prices. They sell a lot of name brand stuff here....versace, d&G, BCBG. Probably the only annoying thing is the fitting room is small and they don't let you try on certain things...once they said I couldn't try on a tee-shirt...weird.
PROS: Incredible prices
CONS: weird fitting room policies
This is a Macy's superstore...probably the largest Macy's I've ever seen. You can find some good deals here on rare occassions, but overall I have found this isn't the best place to shop to find good prices. In particular, i went here to find a nice, cheap suit, and I had no luck...you can't find a nice suit here if you are on a budget. But, i have found some nice jeans and tee-shirts at reasonable prices. There is also a lot of fast food stores located on the different levels, so you can eat while you shop....
PROS: huge selection
CONS: don't shop here if you're on a budget
There is a lot to do at Chelsea Piers. There is bowling, ice skating, roller skating, batting cages, pool, a soccer field, gymnastics, a game room, and a restaurant. However, their prices are ridiculous! I think it costs about $10 p/game to bowl. The batting cages are a lot of fun though, and it's only $1.25 p/game. The restaurant above the bowling alley isn't that good, but they have decent drinks. It's nice to just walk around the pier during the summertime.
PROS: A lot of fun stuff to do
CONS: Very high prices
I like this movie theater. It's in the heart of Harlem, near 125th street, but thanks to Magic, this section of Harlem is rebuilding itself. I have never felt unsafe in this neighborhood. The theater is always clean, they show all the latest movies, and it's very large. They have a large food selection...you can actually eat your dinner here, but the food is expensive. Probably my only real complaint is the movie prices in NYC are just ridiculous nowadays ($10).
