This place had its ups and downs. It's in a good location right on 18th and Collins. Also, there was a nice pool and cabana bar and the Lincoln Rd. shops and a Walgreens are two blocks away. The only problem is the rooms are pretty small. Also, DO NOT rent a privately owned room from here, as you will not be able to enjoy any hotel service but rather have to go through the private owner for everything (read: no maid service, no fresh towels daily, can't call front desk for any assistance).
PROS: location, price
CONS: small rooms
This is where I go to buy hair extensions for my braids to get that "Beyonce" look. They charge $25 per ounce, which is a great price for the high-quality hair they provide. They can custom-make any hair color that you want, as the woman does an excellent job blending different hair colors to get your desired color. I would highly recommend this place. It's much better than Adorables.
PROS: great price, great quality product
This is definately the largest grocery in the neighborhood. They are open 24-hours and they always have great sales, fresh fish and fresh bread. Whatever you are looking for, you can find it at Pathmark. Also, the check-out clerks are usually pretty friendly. The only problem is they never have enough check-out lines open, and so the lines can get pretty long. But if you shop at an off time, this wouldn't be a problem.
This A&P is okay. Their prices are fair and they have a decent inventory. But, it is located right next to the Pathmark which has a way better inventory and much better prices. Also, during lunch time, a lot of highschool students come to A&P and shoplift groceries. If you want a quiet place to shop, then come here because I hardly see any customers whenever I am in there. Otherwise, walk 2 minutes down the street and shop at Pathmark.
PROS: quiet atmosphere
I have driven by this store many times and thought it was very bootleg because it's so small and the name is kind of ghetto. But surprisingly, they have a better Selection than blockbuster and most of their movies are in stock most of the time. The prices are reasonable too. The only downside is all movies are due within two days. But, I imagine their 2-day rental policy is why they keep most of their movies in stock. So if you need to rent a new release, I'd go here...they're more likely to have it than Blockbuster.
PROS: great selection, movies are usually in stock
CONS: 2-day rental policy for all movies
This Blockbuster is not very good. It is relatively small and they never have any of the new videos. They have a very poor stock. Also, the workers do not know what they are doing. I recently called to see if they had a movie available and one worker said it was there. But when I got to the store within 5 minutes, another worker said it was not there and had been checked out for the past few days. I do not like incompetence. Also, BlockBuster's prices are getting ridiculous. I prefer "We got Movies" just down the street...
I always find that whatever I buy at Radio Shack I can find somewhere else cheaper. I think they are incredibly overpriced. Also, this store is very small and they do not have a large inventory. And usually there's only about 2 people working here, and so the customer service is not very good. I bought a sprint phone from them based on one of the salesman's recommendations and it sucked. I do not like Radio Shack, especially this one.
This gym is pretty nice. They have a lot of weight-lifting equipment, as well as a lot of treadmills, elliptical machines, bikes and other cardio machines. On Mondays, they have a live DJ and it becomes "Club Colosseum." If you can get one of their fliers, you can get some discounts, or try their gym for one week free. The owner is cute!!!!
Walgreens is my favorite pharmacy. They are open 24 hours and they have a little bit of everything--groceries, prescriptions, make-up, electronics,...they even sell CD's. You can get your pictures developed in 1 hour for a great price. Also, they have great prices for prescriptions if you don't have insurance. I have never had a problem with this Walgreens...they always have great customer service.
PROS: Everything about Walgreens is great!!!
I have patronized this gym on several occassions. It has all the basic equipment, but some of the equipment is quite old. This gym is frequented by local boxers and hard-core weight lifters and isn't really targeted towards those who want to workout to lose weight. They have mostly weight-lifting machines, but not many elliptical machines or any of the newer cardio machines. Their membership rates are reasonable...$7 for a daily pass, and I believe its $40 for one month, or $90 for three months
PROS: reasonable prices
CONS: not much cardio equipment
