I was impressed at the hardware they brought over. Located in Mableton, you'll have to wait a while for them to make it over, and they might pad the prices to accomodate for gas prices (I stopped counting gas prices after the skyrocket to $2.30 a gallon), but you won't be disappointed.
With free estimates, Professional Concrete did exactly what they said they would and nothing more. There were no frills, no hassles, no mysterious labor charges, nothing of the sort. After they sealed our driveway, they came back for a follow-up pressure washing that made our driveway look like new.
PROS: Great service, friendly workers who are as clean as concrete workers can be
CONS: They don't let you leave your handprints Hollywood-style in wet concrete
Whether it's a gaping whole in your drywall, a broken light fixture, loose windows, clogged pipes, or a cracked fence, these guys will help you do it.
And when I say help, I mean they'll do it themselves while you knock back a cold one and enjoy the game. I hate to admit it, but they do even the most mundane tasks like fixing shelves better than you can. Not even the most seasoned of Dads and do-it-yourself Moms can do better than the Carpenter Group.
PROS: Prompt, reliable service and quality craftsmanship
CONS: You feel like an incapable dolt at observing the ease of the tasks they do
Our neighbor hired Crawford to revamp his entire backyard. Having just built his pool, he wanted his shrubbery and whatnot to match the elegance of an 8 ft.-deep concrete hole filled with chlorine water. And why not?
With such a job, he didn't trust just anyone. He went to Crawford because of their superior design and step-by-step assistance in the development of his land. They provided the mulch and even helped find new bushes and trees to accentuate the area. I can say with confidence that they not only landscaped, but also helped add value to his property. Don't go anywhere else! Crawford does not disappoint.
PROS: Superb quality work, scheduled and done at the most efficient pace possible
CONS: You definitely have to pay a hefty price for perfection (but it's worth it)
I got a coupon book in the mail with a dozen coupons from Parkaire Cleaners stating that they'd "clean" my dress shirts for $1 each. I thought "hey, fantastic!" That's the cheapest dry cleaning ever!
After leaving my Armani in the hands of professionals, however, I returned two days later to find that they weren't dry cleaned. They were LAUNDERED. Coupon in hand, I gawked. In my haste, I failed to realize that while all the other coupons were for dry cleaning, the small print at the bottom of this particular coupon were the words "Laundered on Hangers". I didn't notice as the boldface said "Men's Dress Shirts Cleaned" while all the others said "Garments Dry-Cleaned." While it was my mistake and my impatience that cost me this error, I have to point out that all the shirts were dry-clean only (the care labels on my three shirts said so).
In their haste, I would've at least expected that they would have called me asking, as I would have gladly paid the extra money for dry-cleaning. While I only paid three dollars, I now am out about $350 in shirts.
PROS: They do what they say they'll do, the workers were friendly enough
CONS: Read the fine print, or you'll pay next to nothing for a ruined shirt
Our 2000 Saab 9-5 was experiencing difficulties with a turbocharger (as Saabs are wont to do). Anyone who drives a Swedish auto knows how finnicky they are; that's half the charm of owning one!
The only problem is that repairs cost an arm and a leg in comparison to Japanese and German ( and especially American) competitors. Eurocar was no different, though their specials are very appealing. Their staff was extremely hospitable, giving us $25 off our brakepad replacement simply for being first-timers.
Eurocar is a great alternative to dealerships if you don't want to sell your internal organs for a tuneup. They do everything from AC repair to shocks, clutches, radiators, and drive trains. While you won't pay as much as the dealership, you do risk losing out on a warrantied repair, so keep that in mind. But in all honesty, our Saab has been running smoothly for the last year since our visit to Eurocar.
PROS: Great service, able to work on everything from Audi to Volvo
CONS: You risk leaving without a factory warranty just like any place else
Frankie's offers a wide array of Italian food, from their **great** lasagna, to their thin pizzas, and their spicy calamari. They are prompt, dependable, and available, keeping all communication lines open.
Our office party was great; the serving sizes were just right. A lot of places overdo it, but Frankie's portioned their servings to be the way I asked. They helped me at every turn, even offering vegetarian alternatives at one point.
Give them a call! You won't be disappointed.
PROS: First-rate service, fully accomodating of your catering needs
CONS: A little heavy on the cheese
From the zebras to the lions, the panda exhibit to the live shows, Zoo Atlanta rivals just about any other major animal attraction in the nation.
With winding paths, a petting zoo, plenty of clean restrooms and a great gift shop, this is a great place to take the family for a day outside. Just mind the Georgia heat--no one likes walking on concrete when there's a 98-degree sun beating overhead.
PROS: Great exhibits. RIP Willy B.
CONS: Monkeys smell funny, especially in summer heat and humidity
I went to a birthday party where Dining In was catering, and I have to admit that though the food was exceptional, the service was not.
I think they outsource their labor, which is unfortunate because the caterers themselves were top notch. The banquet waiters and staff carrying hors d'oeuvres were too busy smoking cigarettes and chatting outside to tend to the guests.
I could be completely wrong, and the wait staff could have been hired by the people throwing the party, but judging by the uniforms and conversational exchanges, I'd say that the caterers and wait staff were from the same company.
PROS: Great food that won't disappoint
CONS: Lackadaisical wait staff who reek of Marlboro Ultra-lights
We were helped by Jean Simmons, an absolute gem of a realtor who stuck with us as we debated over the choice for our first house. When we had to defer our choice and lease for another year, Mrs. Simmons was more than helpful and understanding, and found us a house to our EXACT specifications within two weeks' time.
I don't know how many hours she must have put in, but I've never heard of another realtor going that far to help a client. I'm sure that we must have cost her commissions on other potential clients in the process, so our family is forever indebted to her. When she did find us a house we were set on, the transaction went smoothly and we were given phenomenal rates. Mrs. Simmons helped arbitrate the deal from start to finish.
Don't waste your time with other realtors unless you know they're willing to do what Jean Simmons did.
PROS: One-on-one time, immense patience, even drove children in her car
CONS: I don't think her commission is nearly enough to match her skills
Located just off the Howell Mill Rd. exit on i-75, My Cup of Tea is a great holistic health spa that provides everything from shiatzu and deep tissue massages to a vast array of wellness products.
This is a quintessential wellness spa whose massages are sure to please. Go with an open mind and you'll be pleasantly surprised; expect a European spa and you're in for disappointment. This is a unique place whose individuality lends to its credibility as a massage and wellness spa.
PROS: Unique, holistic health-centric establishment
CONS: If you're not into chakras or holistic medicine, this is not for you
