Mahoney State Park
This park has everything for the outsider, park lover! Amenenities include lodging, food service, camping, a swimming pool complex and a theater. The swimming pool complex has lots of slides and play space., not just your average pool. This is a great place for a summer family vacation. it is open year round .
Nebraska's Wildlife Safari Park
This is a family favorite! You drive in your own vehicle around this very large animal park (approx. 4 miles) and see the animals up close. You can go very slow through the park and really enjoy the sight-seeing. You can ride in the tram if you prefer, weather permitting.
Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum
This is a pretty cool place to see a collection of aircrafts, missles and lots of other aerospace artifacts and exhibits. This museam displays the history of strategic Air Command. It is open all year. Never seems to be crowded. The admission price is a bit expensive but worth a visit.
Old Market Candy Shop
This will amaze you. The sights and smells of candy in this shop are overwhelming. If you take your children in here be ready to spend some money. They have some old time favorites and lots of unique candies. It has the feel of an old-time candy store. This is a must see.
Joslyn Art Museum
This is a very nice, well laid out museam. This one can be enjoyed by adults and children. There is something for everybody. The lower level has fun things for the little kids. Plan on spending at least half a day because there is so much to see. Best of all, it's free and free parking!
Art Mart Summit Square
This is a great place to get all your art supplies. They have a large selection and very helpful staff. They also do art classes that change frequently. This shop can take care of your picture framing needs. They do a very nice job and their prices are average. This is a good place to learn about new crafts.
West Lanes Bowl
This is an O.K. place to bowl, but it is usually very crowded, especially on the weekend evenings. The smell of smoke from cigerettes is pretty strong so that can be bothersome also. Parking is fairly limited and you may want to call ahead to reserve a lane for bowling. Good place for kids birthday parties.
Western Bowl
This is a great place to have your childs birthday parties. They wiil get to play a few games and then you can serve cake and ice cream right there. They have plenty of tables and chairs .You will need to call way in advance though if you are planning a weekend party.
Century Orthodontics
This place is very kid friendly! Staff is always cheerful, Dr. Cavanaugh is laid back and kind. Kids love him. There's a game room in the waiting area and a large fish tank to keep kids busy while waiting to see the Orthodondist.
St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium
This is a great family outing, even if you don,t know anything about baseball. The st.louis fans make it exciting, the crowds are always friendly. Parking is usually not to bad.
