This is a place to have fun! They have the ceramic pieces and you decorate them. The staff are helpful and have lots of experience in helping people create lovely items. They have a variety of items to paint from table ware to figurines. You paint the item, and come back in a couple of days to pick up your finished piece. They do birthday parties, also. The studio is very clean and parking is ample.
This laundry center is so different that the laundry centers that I used to use. I use this one if the laundry gets really backed up and to wash blankets. This place is clean. There is always an attendant on duty. The smoking area is separate. When I was there last week, every machine was in working condition. It was not hot and there are televisions to watch while you wait. Every time I go there, I am so impressed with how different the laundry experience is when you go to Courtesy Cleaning Center.
Galena's Kandy Kitchen can be a dangerous place for a dieter or nirvana for a chocoholic. I make it a point to visit whenever I am in Galena. They have hand-dipped chocolates and many other hand made confections, such as pecan logs, fudge, and caramel apples in the fall. They also have bulk candy in wooden barrels. These are the types of candy that we loved as children. I have never had anything, but great candy at the Kandy Kitchen and I have tried a lot of it! Don't miss this one. It is a locally owned business and has been on Main Street for many years.
I love smell of wood that is apparent when you walk into Spahn and Rose Lumber Company. They have helped us through several projects and we wonderful to us who do not have a good sense of building anything! It is great that they have a number of displays that show potential projects and solutions to problems. Their prices are fair. They deliver when they say that they will. They are an old Dubuque company. It is easy to understand why they have been in business for so long; they take good care of their customers.
I had heard so many glowing comments about the Railway Cafe that I was delighted when I was finally to have lunch there. I was so disappointed in the very limited menu, the fact that they were out of desserts, and by the presentation of my food. I ordered a chicken sandwich, which was good, but it came with only a few potato chips on the plate. It was not a nice presentation. We also waited quite a while for our water and even longer for a refill. You might have a better experience, but I left feeling that I had been railroaded at the Railway Cafe.
The Store Next Door is one of Galena's oldest gift and decorative accessory store. It is housed in an old theater, which is fun to see. The store carrries Heritage Lace, Mary Engelbreight, Cat's Meow, and many other merchandise lines. They sell greeting cards, rubber stamps, jewelery, wall art, some antiques, and much more. The staff all appears to be well trained on the merchandise that they sell. They have always been attentive to me, but not hovering. Don't miss this store on your next trip to Galena.
We purchased our last vehicle from Riley's Mazda and Subaru at the recommendation of several friends. We were impressed with the sales staff of Riley's. We did not feel any pressure to buy and they were straight forward with us about the price of the car. Since our purchase, we have used Riley's service and have had good experiences with them. We have not waited for any service appointments. We also have not needed anything but routine service to the vehicle we purchased.
Kahle's Flooring did all the flooring for a house that I owned. The staff at Kahle's was very helpful because I did not know much about purchasing carpeting and flooring. They presented me with a lot of good information and did not pressure me to purchase from them. The installers came as scheduled and did a super job of installation. Kahle's had a good selection and the prices were very competitive. I will use Kahle's again.
The Wedding Chapel is a place you can find many things that you will want for your wedding, other than the obvious bridal and attendant's attire. Kristine, the owner is so helpful and patient. This business also has a tuxedo shop at the same location. It is a fun site that is in an old church, hence the name of the business. This shop will help you with many of your wedding day needs!
Betty Jane's Candy is a Dubuque institution, known for its Easter candies, /Gremlins, caramel apples, and ice cream at its Asbury Road location. They make much of the candy on site and it is wonderful. They have a section of bulk candy that is the ones you ate growing up. Very helpful staff and immaculate facility. Be sure to visit Betty Jane's.
