Bishop's House Inn
I enjoy exploring and staying at B&Bs in the area that I'm visiting. I stayed there for 5 days back in March 08. It's an AMAZING place, very antique. They are taking good care of it. No matter how cold it was outside, inside was always cozy and warm. Everyone there is very very friendly. I really recommend it.
Bent River Brewing Company
This place is not very customer friendly for a first time visitor. There is no obvious entrance area. Both entrances appear that you are entering the back of the brewery. There is no hostess or waitress to greet you and no sign saying "wait here to be seated" or "please seat yourself". I asked a waitress how to get a table and she said she was too busy to help me. The place was pretty crowded. Unfortunately many of the people at the bar (where I grabbed a seat) were obnoxious and most likely drunk. The fact that the place was crowded is a good sign that the place must be good. I had a beer. It was cheap and pretty good. I would have liked to have some food but I ended up going down the street to another place for dinner.
Riefes Restaurant
If your in the mood for an all American family dining experience and some of the best food and prices the mid-west has to offer, take the time to stop by Riefe's. Your sure to have a good meal.
The Machine Shed
My girlfriend who's retiring from the Navy is moving back home in Oct 08 and I drove with her in March 08 to close on her new home. I hope to come back again, Davenport is interesting.
This restaurant itself is worth the visit. By this I mean the decor and the overall "feel" of the place. It's really cool and it certainly feels like you're walking into a barn full of old stuff. The waiters/waitresses wear these goofy overalls and plaid shirts. Drinks are served in mason jars. I saw some kid meals served in little John Deere tractor things. This place reminds me of Mike's Farm in NC.
Raffaele's Italian Restaurant
Who would have guessed there's an authentic Italian restaurant in Pinehurst with all the golfers. :) I normally do not comment on italian unless it's really really good and this is better then good - it's fabulous. It brought back memories of my dining experiences in Italy where the food is fresh and pure tasting. One thing for sure, some of the best tiramisu in the state!
Vito's Pizzeria Of Pinehurst
I was actually blown away the last dog show I went to and someone suggested "pizza" for dinner. I couldn't believe they took us here, I didn't know there was any good pizza places in Pinehurst. This was extremely good and I hope to come back next year and have it again.
Villager Deli Restaurant
Service and food here is excellent. I've been here a few times when I've attended dog shows in the area over the years. The service, prices and food are always good. It has a small seating area inside and out, but everything is great.
Simply Heavenly Sweets
Simply Heavenly Sweets make some of the finest cakes in the Fayetteville area. When my husband went to leave the VA Med Center last year after working there for a few months they bought his going-away cake from this one-woman shop. It was so fresh and tasty. It was decorated beautifully. She does a wonderful job.
Pridgen Upholstery
Up in Jacksonville there is no longer anyone who does upholstery work. I had my brother take an old chair down to Wilmington on his way home and he brought it back this past weekend. Pridgen did a beautfiul job in restoring a chair that I thought I might have to throw out. Any thing else that will need done, I'm sending it down to Pridgen's in Wilmington.
Leisure World Casual Furniture
Excellent experience over the weekend here. A very relaxed customer service, which I enjoy. I do not like sales people up in my face as I'm trying to look. They seem to sell some of the highest quality brands at a very fair price.
