This is a locals only hangout. There's a lot of tough people here as it sits in a crime ridden neighborhood. The drinks are cheap and there's not much to choose from. There's occasionally fights and the police are there frequently. Stay away unless your from that area.
Dusty's Bar & Grill
Not a family place to eat, but the food is good. It's almost entirely a lunch place, with good Mexican food. The drinks are average. They have Bud and Miller on draught. Mostly a quiet crowd.At night, it's a locals only hangout.
Naco Bar
This is a very seedy bar in a bad part of town. Frequented by ex- cons and local gangsters. Don't go here unless you know your way around. Don't go alone either. Suggest you go in a group. The drinks are cheap, but there's not much to choose from.
Palms Bar
This is THE in place in L.A. Guaranteed an a-list star sighting. Almost exclusively frequented by the rich and famous. Bring a camera if you go here, you'll be sorry if you don't. The food is very good and very expensive,as you can imagine. You must have reservations or you won't get in. It's a destination as well as a place to eat..
El Merengue
This is a blue collar no frills place. Lots of character and lots of women hang out here. The drinks are dirt cheap and the service is too. This is definitely a tough guy bar. If your not familiar with the neighborhood or the people that come here, then stay away. If you live close by, then you know this is a local institution. Don't expectt much, except cheap drinks and cheap women..
Las Playas Bar
This is definitely a blue collar no frills place. The music is loud, the drinks are cheap, and the crowd is tough., A few pool tables, but not much else.This is a tough part of town so be careful if you go here.
Universal Bar & Grill
They have a greaT menu and the food is very good. The salads are excellent and made fresh o order. The service is fast and polite. It's a convenient place to eat if you work nearby, The staff are friendly and eager to please. The Ice T is the drink of the house. It's served ice cold and tastes great. Priced a little high, but nice place anyways
The Gold Coast Bar
One of the trendier places in Los Angeles. Lots to see and has a great atmosphere. The crowd is West Hollywood locals with a few movers and shakers thrown in. The food is very good and keeps a lot people coming back. It's very expensive, but so is everything is this neighborhood.
Dragonfly Bar
I(f you want a trendy. hip place to see and be snd be seen, then check it out, It's a little to far east to be one of the "in" places, but they offer everything else you would expect fro a high end bar. The food is good, but everything is expensive. A lot of locals come by and are usually friendly.
Charlie O's Bar & Grill
Charlie's is a small place with a big agenda. Lately, they fixed it up a little and have tried to make a sports bar out of it. It's OK, but not known as a great sports bar. What they do have is great mixed drinks. They never skimp on the liquor, that's for sure. Prices are fair and the crowd is pretty easy going.
