Michaels Jewelers
I went to look at engagement rings. When I asked to see a ring, I was told by the salesperson to 'come back with my fiance and she would take it out of the case for me.' I haven't been back there since, and told all my friends to stay out of there. I was dressed in office clothes and am fairly well groomed. Why would you go into a store to be treated like that? Don't women have their own money to spend?
Caraluzzi's Newtown Market
I love this store! The staff is friendly and helpful. I love the produce and floral depts. The cashiers and baggers are so kind! You can be polite and work in retail! A+++!!!!!!!!!!
Gayle O'Neill Antique Jewelry
One of my favorite stores. I have been going there for years. I have never felt ignored. Sometimes it is very busy and you have to be a little patient, but there is plenty to look at. I like that I can try things on in a comfortable atmosphere.
I went to the other franchise jeweler in town (Michaels) years ago to look at engagement rings. When I asked to see a ring, I was told by the salesperson to 'come back with my fiance and she would take it out of the case for me.' I haven't been back there since, and told all my friends. That would never happen at Gayle's. Plus there are many things there that are vintage and one of a kind.
Lexington Gardens
Since the shop changed owners, it is very disappointing. I went in this summer ready to spend. I picked out about $150 worth of plants. I pushed them up to the cashier, a teenage girl. I asked her for name labels for plants. She stared at me and said, "I don't know what you are talking about. I have to go to the bathroom". She walked away, leaving me standing there at the counter. Another girl stepped in and I bought what I had, but I won't go back. And I told all my friends about it too.
At another time, someone from my company went in and had to wait till the cashier finished texting her boyfriend at the register. The customer in front of him left without buying anything. Unless they upgrade their service, I don't know how they can stay in business.
Great retail help is possible. Just check out Caraluzzis.
Ross, Joseph, Dvm - Southbury Veterinary Hospital
Years ago, when we first moved to town, our cat got into a fight and had a huge cut on his back leg. We went to our regular vet in Middlebury who told us that since we didn't have an appt. he wouldn't see us.
In desperation we drove to Dr. Ross's. His kids were in the car, they were on their way to VACATION. Dr. Ross looked at us, looked at the cat, unlocked the door to his clinic and took the cat. And fixed him up. He delayed his vacation for our cat!
We have gone to Dr. Ross ever since.
