Vintage Wine & Spirits
Vintage Wine and Spirits have a fine selection of wines and an excellent selection of single malt scotches, which is what we went for. Their staff was knowledgeable. There were several rare and exceptional scotches there. Pricewise they went from affordable to astronomical. Definitely a must see if you are in the area.
Farwest Fungi
This place has all things mushroom! If you are looking for mushroom oriented products this is the place. Their truffle salt is heaven on earth. They have everything from flavored salts, fresh and dried mushrooms to playing cards. Not to be missed when at the ferry building.
Boccalone Salumeria
This is one of my favorite places on earth! If you like preserved meats of any kind this place will be heaven on earth to you. They do their own preserving. The proscuitto is heavenly. If you would like a little sample to much while walking in the ferry building I highly recommend the "meat cone" which is a selection of three preserved meats, thinly sliced presented in a paper cone. Their motto is "salty tasty pig parts" and they live up to it. Gourmet heaven!
Tomales Bay Foods
This is a wonderful, if a little pricey place to shop for organic and local foods. They have fresh produce, wines a bakery and artisan cheeses made right on the premises. We ate lunch at the Cow Girl Creamery there and were in heaven. Follow up your lunch with some organic ice cream for the win!
Tokyo Japanese Restaurant
Tokyo has a serene atmosphere for a busy lunch spot. They also do dinners, but are busiest at lunch. They have solid sushi and bentos. Their ramen is pretty good too. My daughter likes their teriyaki.
Toshi Restaurant
Toshi's is classic Tokyo style sushi and Japanese food. Their ramen is very good. The sushi is fresh and covered in bonito flakes. It is small, but the staff is friendly and efficient.
The King Cafe
This restaurant has a special place in my heart, as it is the first place I had Dim Sum when I was in high school in the 1980s. It has probably been around a lot longer. This is where the locals go to get good cheap dim sum. It is a little hole in the wall, but there is additional seating upstairs. If you want an authentic Chinese experience, come here.
Thai Flombe
The decor is simple and the staff is small, but if you are willing to wait the food is pretty good. There are a lot of Thai places in Hillsboro, but I think this one will last.
Make Believe Costume
This is one of only two year round costume stores I know of in Hillsboro. It has a good selection for the size. The staff was knowlegeable and helpful. It is not as big as the seasonal superstores, but it has a lot of the high quality costume accessories those stores have.
Yuki Japanese Restaurant & Saki Bar
This is an exciting new addition to the Orenco Station restaurant scene. They have a full service sushi and sashimi bar with a lot of unique rolls. The fresh scallops were especially good.
