The staff who work here are very patient with children making "important" decisions. There are some very fine chocolates available here. They also have many flavors of jelly bellies and other kinds of candies. If you are looking for a nice thank you for a friend or just a treat when you are downtown I encourage you to go to the Candy Basket.
The decor in this place is breathtaking inside and out. There is a whole network of bridges and ponds in the lobby. The food is classic American-Chinese, but good. They are open late and it is a fun place to go after a movie or going to a bar. There bar is pretty basic.
This is a fun vintage clothing store, but there prices are a little steep. That said they have high quality items that might save time from sifting through inferior thrift stores.
I went to Steamers today and was impressed. It was both quick, good and reasonably priced. They serve a couple of kinds of Chinese dumplings, a couple kinds of bow and noodles. You can see what your ordering, which is a plus with kids. My dumplings and bow came with salad and edamame and it was great.
I have been going to this restaurant since I was a college student in the late 80's and it is still good. Good solid sushi and Japanese food. The staff is very patient with children too.
I wish that I could afford to shop at this store. It has art clothing and upscale home furnishings. They have everything from beautiful hats to vases and it is right by the max line.
The Blue Heron Bakery is an old fashioned hippy co-op bakery. They have an outdoor bread oven that has been used for a party I went to that was too fun. All of the breads and baked goods are excellent. They have vegan options too.
This wonderful place is cramed (but not cramped) with Asian antiques of all kinds. They carry Tonsu, furnishings, accessories and antique kimono. If you are looking for something specific ask the staff, because they have things hidden all over. There is a bargain room (or bargain closet) which is not to be missed. They are constantly getting new shipments so visit often.
I love the Monkey King! They have great Asian nick-nacks to Asian art statues. There is something for every budget here. My kids love it because they can find things in their price range. If you are looking for a gift for someone inspired by their Chinese zodiac sign, you'll probably find something here.
If you are tired of the usual smashed beans and rice place, Maya's is for you. Their guacamole is to die for. I have been coming to this place since the late 80's and any restaurant with that staying power has to be good.
